PROFILE IS MISSING!

When I started up rocksmith today my prfile was MISSING. Steam still knows all my achievements etc. but my profile is GONE. What can I do? Can I restore it? Is it saved in the cloud somewhere?

Rocksmith is installed on an external drive which I do NOT have a backup of but I do have a time machine backup of my main drive (Mac OS X) - is theer a chance the profile file is in steam installed on the main drive?

Mine vanished too - after I moved the app icon from desktop to apps. My profile came back somehow, I moved the .app back to desktop. I hadn't done much... but I'd really hate that if I had progressed a lot! I have it installed now on my iMac SSD. Everything loads pretty much instantly. Even boots in a couple seconds.

try rebooting the computer and re-run and see if it comes back. Mine did and not sure how I did it.

I had the same issue. After a bunch of trial and error I was able to get around this by not starting the game with steam. I exit steam completely... open Uplay... launch the game... this launches steam and I click play game when prompted.

If I do not launch it in this exact order I get the "steam must be running" error and I have no profiles. If I follow that order works every time. No explanation why but hope this helps you guys out.

How do you launch through uplay? Do you mean from the uplay website there is some kind of launch link?

I lost my profile agian last night. (again) the game crashed. I read it crashes, but never had it to it. I finally started to focus on missions - and did like 10+ in a row and found it crashed when I tried to do missions by switching areas. Else it's been pretty stable. After it crashed, a restart showed a missing profile. I rebooted the Mac and re-loaded and the profile was back.

Rebooting has not restored my profile. :( Anybody else?

Does anybody know where or how the profiles are stored? I have not been successful in finding any files named after the profile either in the steam or rocksmith directory.

What about creating a new profile with the same name as the old one? Horrible idea or potential way to restore? I'm thinking it's probably a bad idea and would overwrite what's left over of the original if anything but I don't know how it works.

I hade the same problem this morning I restored the Steam Folder from yesterday in ~/Library (in the finder go to GO menu and Go to folder enter "~/Library/Application support" with out the " ). I was not able to restore it in one shot, I had to do it folder by folder. When I start Steam it asked for my password and he told me that there a conflict with my local files and the one on the server that was newer I choose keep my local oldest files. Then my profile was BACK.

This has happened to me before and I can't remember how I solved it after much online research and little help from Steam or Rocksmith, but now it's happened again! Can anyone advise as to where my profile might be saved locally on my mac?

I have lost my profile for the 3d time now with over 3000 hours! Every time I try to login to Steam via the web it will never accept my credentials and I just want to know how to back up my profile locally on PC so I can restore it when the file is corrupted. It seems to have happened after I installed Uplay after already running the game in Steam fine, once Uplay connected my profile was corrupt! There has got to be a way to retrieve the local copy and restore it???? I've found where it is stored I believe but don't know what to do to restore it. Located @ C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\136411796\221680 is the remote folder and remotecache.vdf So is there a way to restore this and recover my progress?

Hasn't happened to me since but when it did happen steam support was of no use whatsoever.

My etire game is gone.. Tried to buy some song packs a few days after I got Windows 10 now the game won't work. When I tried to download the songs it said I did not have trhe game in my libray did not let be buy them. Next day NO game? Support is no help at all!!! I also lost a profile or 2 but it's been a while.. Never got them back. Goood Luck Man!!

This happened today while trying some different stuff after the game hade freezed after login.
Seems it was because I hade selected to start Rocksmith as admin, when I unchecked that I got my profiles back.
