Palm Mutes 101 lesson too hard?
I can't seem to get 100% on the palm mutes 101 (Fundamentals) lesson no matter how hard I try. I have been playing it with riff repeater and my limit is 90% speed. I cant seem to beat the 100% speed no matter how hard I try even though I know the lesson by heart now. What do you guys think? Any tips would be highly appreciated.

P.s. Am not a complete newbie, been playing on and off for like 5 years.

doesn't matter how long you have been playing , you have hit a plateau. slow it right down till you do it perfect at 50% if need be . till you do it perfect every time then the same 55% ditto 60, ditto 65% ditto, 70% ditto, 75% ditto,80%, ditto , 85%, ditto, 90% ditto,95% ditto you are trying to build muscle memory for your right and left hand,There are no shortcuts............

Agreed with nuggy. If you can't get it, then you're practicing too fast. Just because you can play it at 90% speed doesn't mean that you should be practicing at that speed. My guess is that while you can play at 90%, your technique is on the verge of breaking down at that speed. So, slow it way down.

What rogue says is true, but here is the reasoning behind what i have stated. accuracy builds speed. Every guitar teacher or so called guitar teacher or half decent guitar player (and there are quite a few on this forum) on the planet will scream this until they are blue in the face.
eliminating the mistakes at slow speed eliminates the mistakes at high speed, means you learn faster.
because if you dont this is what will happen.
you will a:- give up guitar playing , because you will be always hitting walls and it will become a chore instead of being an enjoyable experience due to impatience or
B:- you you will end up going to a guitar teacher who will have to unlearn you of what you have learned and basically start again. or
C you will become a crap gutar player.......
the choice as they say is up to you.

This is also how you'd actually practice in a band or with an instructor. They'd have you slow down and perfect the technique before you speed things up

guyzzzz i play geetar 2!!!

50% is usually where i go like said above. I'm guilty of speeding up too fast, but I'm going to take this advice and make sure I keep it on 0 mistakes only perfection!!!!

I learned prior to slow-downer apps and such (press rewind, play, rewind, play ad infinitum) and learned some bad habits due to impatience. I especially end up sloppy on the low E and A strings. Definitely go for accuracy over speed. If you've plateaued try something else, different palm muting progressions (make some up if you need to) or something entirely different.

I too had some trouble with it at first, then I played it few times with lower speeds and got it over 90 percent at full speed afterwards.

sometimes when I feel i'm better then the lesson gives me credit for i just skip to the practice track. If I nail that I don't worry about anything else

Sorry for the late reply guys, I've been away from home for a week and a half. Thanks for all the comments and advice. I decided to try the other lessons instead. But I play this lesson once every time I start at 80%, then 90% speed and then finally try it at 100%. I nail it at 80, get all notes at 90% speed though I struggle with it a bit but completely lose it at 100%. Though, I'm keeping at it. You guys manage to get 100% score on the practice track?! I must confess, I have this OCD habit of trying to get a perfect score on all lessons ^_^
