Low output volume
Rocksmith 2014's sound is very low. Even if I turn my volume to the max it sounds as loud as any other game on 25-50%. So it is not the issue that a lot of people had with their guitar input volume (the thing with the 17% which they fixed now), but the overall volume output of the game. I use an onboard sound card, but I guess a lot of people use it, so I'm guessing that's not the issue. What else could cause this problem?

Did you check the audio settings in the game? You can setup the volume of the music, your guitar, etc. on an individual basis. Maybe your settings got lowered somehow?

Also, make sure your audio output is set to stereo, not surround sound, while playing Rocksmith. That might make the volume lower, if not set correctly.

Thanks for your reply.
I've tried all in game audio options, but they are all maxed out. Turning off audio exclusivity doesn't seem to help either. Windows volume is at 100%. Audio output is set on stereo. Rocksmith 2014 is the first game i have this sort of troubles with. All other games, including Rocksmith 1 work just fine

That seems like a strange problem. I don't have any other ideas at the moment.

Anyone else got this problem or an idea how to solve this?

Do you use Skype? Because Skype is always messing with your audio settings. Make sure to shut that auto-crud off.

Also, the ingame has a boost option, should help. Also make sure your Tone on your guitar, the one closest to the strings, is set to 6 or higher. Somehow I always get the error on startup that my Tone Cable settings are not properly tuned. It gets most frustrating having to do forced calibrations every startup.

Ubisoft isn't known for supporting their games through updates very much once they feel they made their money off, so here's hoping their attempt at wanting to sell you song packs eventually gets them to respond to user complaints and update some of the many bugs found in the game.

Go to the recording devices in windows (right click the speaker icon on lower right of the screen to get there). The rocksmith cable is categorized as a mic, and you can edit the properties. I had the same problem as you until I raised the levels there. Afterwards, I've had no more problems with it. Hope this helps.

You shouldn't have to do this anymore, with the recent patch that added a gain setting to the audio settings in the game. Also, the OP said all sound was lower, not just the guitar, so I'm not sure this will help.

The guitar input volume is not the problem. Problem is the volume of the game itself. I have to set my volume in windows to maximum output, but still the sound in game is soft, while my guitar sounds loud enough to fit in the songs.

And I don't run any programs like Skype

Open up rocksmith... then alt-tab out. Click on your volume and select mixer and make sure that the volume for Rocksmith is not turned down.. Also make sure that you do not have anything else turned down in volume.

This is a new one to me, so just a first thought.

Tried that as well. Rocksmith 2014, Steam and any other playing devices are maxed out. Volume seems only to be effected when audio exclusivity is turned off, but i makes no difference for the maximum volume.

I've had the same problem since the first game. I always have to turn my speakers way up to hear the game at a decent volume.

Yeah, though turning volume to the max still isn't enough for me. There's got to be a reason that some people have this issue while other don't.

Do you have any other audio software on your machine?

Same here, I have to turn the volume to full to get decent sound output. I have also tried to boost the output volume to no avail. I suspect that since RS2014 'prefers' to employ audio exclusivity, that is likely their way to avoid having to provides drivers for every sound card out there. I have noticed that when I turn audio exclusivity off, it mutes my speakers. I suspect that it is a programming issue. Nothing wrong with your guitar or computer.
