Rock Band Pro Guitar compatability?
Has anyone tried to use the Pro Guitar for RB3 in a Rocksmith title? I have the wireless adapter for the PC so I could connect it easily but don't want to pay for the game only to find out it won't work.

Unless your wireless adapter takes a 1/4" jack then no, no adapater. But if I remember right, those are real guitars aren't they? Or are you talking about the controller with all the additional buttons? This "game" is only for actual guitars and basses. It recognizes the notes being hit and decides if you hit the right "buttons" or not. At first your fingers will ache from the pain of pushing on wires for hours. I wore a hole in my finger, you might even bleed. But over time, I think everyone gets better playing this. I know I see progress in my own guitar playing. I'm doing stuff I thought I'd never be able to do.

So if you don't have a real guitar, get one and a realtone cable and this game. Then if you put in the time, you will learn a lot about playing guitar.

Its got a 5 pin DIN connection for midi, there has to be some way that could be picked up by Rocksmith right? Or a variation on that.

Which one? Do you have the plastic one, or the strat that's a real guitar aswell?

Plastic one, so sounds like I'll just keep jamming on RB3 for a while instead.

This question blew my mind. I can't tell if you're trolling or not.

I happen to have both the RB3 pro guitar with 150+ buttons or whatever ridiculous number it was, and the RB3 Squier which is an actual guitar but with fret sensors and console buttons built in. The latter does work with Rocksmith, but it's not a good idea. They segmented the frets to separate the signal between strings, so you can't bend very well. That's the main thing. Otherwise, it just doesn't sound very good because it has one crappy pickup (you actually mute the strings during RB3 gameplay), and that might even cause problems with Rocksmith trying to listen to what you're playing.

Thank you for a well worded reply that actually answers the question instead of being an elitist ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like most other people :)

Honestly... I used the Rockband 3 Pro Squire guitar for the longest time on Rocksmith. Since it is a real guitar it works fine. The problem I had was that (as jacobvandy stated) bending notes would cause some problems when it hits the spacers on the frets. I mostly solved that by filing down the spacers a little on the frets that I was having issues on.

Of course, the first thing I had to do was setup the guitar better on the intonation, as it had issues there. You can find some nice videos on youtube for how to do that yourself. And you have to use the 1/4 inch out jack instead of the midi out. But, the guitar did work well enough until I got around to buying a new guitar.

Oh, the sustains were not very good on the RB3 Squire... but on the long sustains you can pluck the string again to keep the sustain going. The sustains are much better on a quality guitar.
