Too many bugs in Windows 8.1
There are multiple game breaking bugs when playing on Windows 8.1. Here are the ones I have experianced in only 2 days:

1. USB install of the Rea lTone cable frooze up multiple times and I had to try every single USB port until I found one that would work.
2. Game will randomly freeze up right at the opening splash screen. The only solution is to open task manager, kill the program and try again.
3. After logging on, the game will freeze right before displaying the menu option. Again the only option is to kill the game in task manager
4. Lesson videos will not play, and yet again game has to be killed in task manager to get out.

Once I can get into the game, it seems to work without any issues. When the game does work, it is quite fun, so I hope these bugs are fixed soon. As it stands, if you have Windows 8.1, I would wait to purchase this game until they fix these issues.

Sorry to hear about all your problems. I run 8.1 and haven't experienced any of those. I get an occasional sound device is unplugged notice but it works anyway.

I also run Win8. 1 without any of the problems you listed.
Do you have special hardware that could explain the problems you experience?
Unless there are many people with the same problems there is no reason not to get the game for 8.1.

Windows 8.1 works fine for me also...

I run Windows 8.1 and had my first crash today... while 10 other programs were running and Origin installed another game in the background... so i guess it wasn't even the fault of Rocksmith.

Stop blaming the operating system... The issue lies elsewhere on your PC

I play RS 1 and 2014 on two computers, they both run 8.1

Juat got Rocksmith today and I do not experience these freeze in 8.1.
However, I sometime get an issue with the guy talking is slow, like in slow motion. The guitar input does not seem to work right when that happen. I have to restart the game and it's really annoying because you can skip all the intro credit bs.

Do you have a problem with *all* session videos or only with some? I have a similar problem but so far only with one video lesson for bass (i think it was 1.1b for bass guitar). Im using Rocksmith on Win 8.1 on a laptop.

The lesson video will play if I launch them right when I load up the game, but if I try to go into them later, the game freezes up. For comments about my computer being the cause, this is an older machine that has been stable for 5 years and has been running Windows 8 without issues since it came out last year. This is the only program that has ever caused any problems.

Ive never had any problems, but I dont play any of the games or songs included, I only just jam along with the band and have fun. I built my new PC with a 4770K and 16 gigs of ram, and
it runs everything great, and the only crashes I get are in BF4.

I have been using Windows 8.1 x64 with Rocksmith 2014 all the time... Haven't experienced a single bug, glitch or problem at all.

Gee Mr. GAME INDUSTRY GUARDIAN, that's helpful. NOBODY IS BLAMING 8.1! Just trying to find some common ground and identify WHAT is causing all the problems. I have RS 1 and it runs flawlessly on 8.1 2014 is ALL f'd up. Good for you that it works on BOTH of your computers running 8.1. It doesn't work on my 1. Any insight genius? No problems anywhere else. Elsewhere on our computers? Do tell.

Using Win 8.1 myself with zero problems

@keith_flmng - Sorry, but Matt is correct. One should post more than just their OS when having issues as the issue is more likely to be hardware related than software related. Ranting like a child just makes you look like an idiot.

My specs:
MSI Z77 mobo
Core i5 @4.4GHz
16GB DDR3 1600
Soundblaster Titanium PCI-Ex
EVGA 760GTX

Are your video and sound drivers up-to-date?
Have you updated motherboard bios? Ever?

Ignoring the attempt at a personal attack (I'm really not sure how the badge on my Steam profile is relevant here)

There is easily something else that could be conflicting.

What is your system specs? Are your drivers up to date? What other software are you running in the background?

I run rocksmith on Three platforms at 4 computers in diffrent locations, Win7 Win8pro and win8,1pro. I got into some problems on the recently updated 8.1 computer, it will recognize but not play added Rocksmith cables. I'll have to restart rocksmith ewery time I play dual player. One more thing, mouse pointer disappeared in rocksmith after upgrade from win 8 to 8,1.
No problems on remaining win7 and win8. I recommend not to upgrade to 8.1 just yet.
