[resolved] Can I use my Alesis IO/2 audio card instead of the standard jack/usb cable required for guitar line input ?
Hi you, could you be a deer :Deer: and help me perhaps ?

I just bought RS2014 on sales today and apparently I'm supposed to get a real tone cable. Since I already use my Alesis IO/2 for recording plays and such (regular jack from guitar to guitar line input and then usb interface to the pc), is there a way I could use that instead of having to pay twenty euros/bucks/potatoes for a proprietary cable ?

Because, I kinda feel like it's been forcing down my throat. I know, it was mentionned before I bought it, but you know... sales you see :bluewizard:

You can try the no cable hack, if you're running on Windows, but you'll get no support from Ubisoft for the setup.

I wouldn't suggest this. You've already paid for the game, continue to show the dev your support and lay down the one lousy sawbuck to get the cable.

Thx for your answers. While I agree with Buck on the part that you're supposed to support the devs and all, I don't really like the fact that third-party audio cards aren't supported. I see no good reason (appart from having to pay for an extra cable) for that. And since I want to start playing it now. I think I'll go with the no cable hack, like Rogue said, just for some time. I will certainly consider buying it later. Anyway thank again guys !

The reason is that the Rocksmith team is relatively small, and they would not have the resources to support problems with every possible sound card or audio interface.

I see, well all is working okay (plugged to a line input of my audio card). But the only problem I still got is that there is quite a lot of static. It really is a bother when trying to calibrate and tune the instrument. Any idea how I can get rid of that ?
