Tone cable doesn't work on USB3
I recently got a new PC and now Rocksmith no longer sees my tone cables. I've tried all of the hacks that I've been able to find online and am still unable to play the game.

Can anyone help?

Might have to turn off legacy USB support or XHCI for the USB 3.0 ports in your bios.

Mine work fine on USB 3.0, but on a couple of systems I had to tweak the BIOS settings.

Weird , for me it works fine on 3.0 . Sure its not just your cable ?

Then I wonder if they gave different cables with rocksmith 1 and rocksmith 2014

No they are the same cables. I have 1 PC that has no problems with 3.0 and one that does.
but if i plug my steel series key board with usb ports on it it has no problems at all.so I think it might just have something to do with the bios on the motherboard and from different manufacturers how windows handles it

Yeah that makes the most sense then :)

There are known compatibility issues between the Realtone cable and USB 3.0. It may work for some people, but for others you find the cable is either identified as "hocksmit" or, the driver won't load (code 10 typically)

The first and best thing to do is to simply move it to a USB 2.0 port which should work fine.
If that's not an option, then a powered USB 2.0 Hub connected to a USB 3.0 port should work.
You can also try disabling xHCI in BIOS (if possible)

Gigabyte G1 Gaming X99, works great on 2.0, no go on 3.0. gotta play with the bios some more as its a relatively new build.. but I feel for ya.

Though I gotta ask.. is there any noticeable difference in the lag between 2.0 and 3.0 (for those using 3.0) It's super tiny minor, but after playing a session on the amp, then switching directly to RS, I notice it.

There is a noticeable difference but tweeking it removes it. Also cant find it right now but there is a program that will measure it just like frame rates. Should be able to search it. so tiny that you wont notice in game. But yes I hear it after playing on an amp

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. I'll keep trying things! The USB2 hub seems like a good option.

I have 2 cables and have tried both so I'm thinking that it's not the cable because the results are the same for both.

I have tried USB 2.0/3.0 powered hub and turning off XHCI. I have been plugging in and out all evening to no avail, when will this game be fixed? Windows 10 is just around the corner and Ubisoft is late to the party as always. Please fix whatever issues that this game has with newer USB setups!

I have tried Windows 8.1 on two computers and cannot get it to work. Please fix these issues.

I have a solution!!!!

I went out and bought a cheap USB 2.0 Hub (D-Link 4 port USB model DUB-H4) and plugged it into a USB 3.0 hub on my PC. Initially it failed but worked after I unplugged and replugged it.

Thanks all for the pointers!

Now you can go back to enjoying this wonderful game :)

Thanks for the tips. These BIOS settings worked for me on the Blade Pro along with a USB2 hub.
