Try recalabrating
Paladin Apr 16, 2015 @ 9:01pm
If re-calibration is not working turn up the gain in the setting.

Is the guitar a single coil? You might have to raise the pickup's a bit also. Try half a turn on each side.

ive been playing around and every time i pick a cord. i get the rattling sound think stings are rubbing on pickups to much. i got a Gio ibanex 6 string nothing good but its basic ♥♥♥♥

I am confused. I don't think that your strings are rubbing on your pickups.

Try this:

WIth the guitar is not plugged in:

lightly pick the low e string do you hear buzzing in the neck area?

press down on the first fret on the low E-string and lighty strum do you hear buzzing?

If you fret the low E-string on the 5th fret an lightly stum do you hear buzzing in the neck area?

if you fret the low E-string on the 12 frst and lightly stum do you hear bussing ?

Try this on the other strings as well.

If you answer yes to any one of these go get your guitar set up at a local guitar store. Not guitar center though. Find a local shop.

I suspect that you guutar needs to be setup properly for you to play it.

The professional setup will go a long way to your enjoyment. Also ask the store a lot of quesitons about your guitar.

Search the internet for information on guitar setup but don't try it yourself yet.

if the answer is no to all the questions

If you are learning barre cords Am, Fm, A, etc, it may be that you just need to practice more. My chords were awfull for a long time till I buillt up strength an knowlder of how to hold a chord.

So try this on chords. Create the cord shape on the strings and pluck them one at a time. All the strings must ring true. Work on that till you can get each string to ring clean then strum them all. Little steps.

Just saying, but how old are your strings? Maybe they've lost elasticity, you need to replace them

If you think you strings are rubbing on your pickups... and that would have to be really close to the strings for it to do that... Then you probably should take your guitar in for a setup. If the strings are too close (even not rubbing) then the magnets in the pickups will pull the string in and out of tune as you sustain the note.

A full setup, will make sure that your guitar plays at the best that it can. They will look at string height, intonation, pickup height, truss rod adjustments... etc and put new strings on.

Sounds like you guitar is way, way out of tune ... the strings seem to be so loose they are against the guitar body and pickups.

You need help. Get a buddy that knows more or take it to shop ... or just google how to tune and setup a guitar.

Have you tried using a guitar tuner outside of Rocksmith? - I agree with rcole_sooner it sounds like you might be way out of tune. Are your strings very loose?

When you pick your string does the meter go off the scale and just stay there or is it bouncing up and down a lot?
rcole_sooner Apr 17, 2015 @ 8:11am
Sounds like you have them tuned an octave to low.

Be careful tightening them up, but I think you need to go up a whole octave.

Maybe not on all strings, but on any that seem noticeably loose.

As I say be careful, you can over tighten and break a string.

Do you have a fixed bridge or tremolo bridge (whammy bar)?

If you have a tremolo bridge, then you may have to go through tuning the strings many times, as each pass the previous strings will be loosened as the other strings pull against the springs of the bridge.

I think rcole_sooner is right you may be a whole octave off... try tightening them and see if it settles down. - If you do have a floating bridge you may want to consider blocking it. - Basically locking the bridge.

first, recalibrate. Make sure your guitar's volume is ALL the way up, and preferably have all pickups selected, if possible.
If you're using a passive instrument you may want to raise the input gain slightly too (do this within game, not from the Windows sound control applet).

Pick more frequently, and tune VERY slowly. Eventually it'll settle.

Go to youtube.com and watch the RockSmith tuning video.
