I play with my son's Squire regularly ... it seems to work just fine ... sometimes better than my les paul!

It will be okay.

Sounds like you are playing with too much pressure or bending the string slightly while fretting the notes.

lighten up on the fretting and be sure to press straight down, just enough to fret the note.

Takes practice but you'll get it.

You can turn up the Real Tone cable gain in the game options if your guitar has low output.

A squire should be perfectly fine. Sometimes the cable might not be plugged in all the way or the output nut might be loose (which would be fixed by screwing it with your hand a little tighter). Since Rocksmith isn't super sensitive, I'm assuming that your pickups are not high enough, so you can go to YouTube and there are plenty of videos that show you how to raise your pickups easily.

I suspect you are bending or pressing too hard on the red string. It is the string most likely to suffer from that issue. You can do a bit of a test to see what is going on. Go to the tools menu and at the bottom left of the screen you will see a little tuner. Try playing each fret and see how in tune you are. Also try pressing lighter and harder to see how easily you can affect the pitch. So open red should be E, first fret F, third G, fith A, 7th B, 8th C, 10th D then it repeats with 12th being E again. Of course the frets I didn't mention are the sharps/flats.

So make sure you see the notes you expect on the frets. That should give you an idea if it is your fretting or something else like intonation.

for single coil I am running my gain at about 6 for a stating point for you. It seems to work well at that. To high a gain will cause feedback to be careful.

I started on a Squier Bullet, still works fine to this day, although she's.. unstringed and in the corner, but most of my errors I had were due to myself, I learned on it, and still have a special spot for it in my heart.

I also use a squire. I may be because you fret to hard, but switching the stock strings with EXL110 or power slinky also made a difference.

I have a Fender Squire HSS and it works mostly okay, apart from sometimes not registering 1st, 2nd, 3rd fret on low E string (yes, the red one). Took me a while to tune the intonation (the string length tuned at the brige) and the issue has mostly gone away, but still surfaces from time to time.

I believe that it's a Rocksmith issue, since an external tuner registers all notes correctly. Rocksmith 1 on the other hand has trouble registering pretty much any fret on that string. I guess they tried their best fixing issues with RS2014, but not completely.

Also try adjusting the string action (distance between strings and the fretboard). Helped me with A and D strings, which kept buzzing at first and thus not registering correctly.

Squier guitars are decent beginner guitars, and many parts can later be upgraded.

The Rock Band 3 Squier controller, however, is a horrible guitar. . .

I had to take apart and readjust the connector on mine, but that's the only problem I've had.

It's definitly worth your time and cash to have someone who knows what they're doing set up your guitar. Once you know how to adjust your truss rod and string intonation (saddle-to-capstan length) you can fiddle with things, but if you don't know what you're doing you're apt to make it worse (or in the case of the truss, break the guitar)
