Notes crossed out or with "X" on them
I'm sure this is simple and probably somewhere online, but what's with the notes with the Xs on them? Do I treat them differently or just play them like the normal ones?

It can also mean muting on the fretting hand (i.e. lifting your fretting fingers slightly), if it's a small X in the middle of the note or chord. A large X covering the whole note or chord means a palm mute.

The "Techniques" section in learn a song should tell you more about things like that too.

I'm a fingerstyle bassist so palm mutes just don't work for me, so that's what I do.

Palm mute and frethand mutes have differing color for the X that comes through the note pay attention to the notation. White X = frethand mute ... grayish dark X = Palm mute.

I did not know that. Thanks
