Playing on MAC! this message appears: "Sounds like your cable is unplugged. Connect a Rocksmith Realtone cable"
I just started playing today and just when I got to the calibration part this message appeared to me...i tried everything that I read before doing this post, like changing usb spot, or unpluging and pluging the cable when the message appears, but nothing worked.
I can't find the cable in the systems preferences and I just don't know what to do :/
Please give some help

Did you re-seat the breakaway portion of the cable?
Are you plugged directly into your Mac, or through a USB hub?
What model Mac are you running it on?
If you look at system information in 'About this Mac,' what USB devices do you see?
Are you using other USB devices? Have you tried disconnecting them?

Yes
Direct into my MAC
Macbook pro 13' 2012
no USB devices are being used, except for my mouse
already tried disconnecting and did not work.
Also tried to change computer, guitar, operational system, and still nothing. When I tried on windows I got a message that the cable wasn't working and so the windows could not recognize it.
Can someone help me? I'm starting to think that this cable I bought sucks...probably I'll activate my warrant and pray for the new one to work

Did you reboot? Sometimes it really does help ;-)

I don't think the guitar volume knob is used at that stage, but make sure it is max setting and if you have a bridge selector switch, try moving the position.

Also, under Apple->About this Mac->More Info->System Report->Audio->Devices, my iMac shows : Rocksmith USB guitar adapter
Input channels: 1
Manufacturer: Hercules
Current sample rate: 48000
Transport: USB

Yes, I did reboot, my knobs are in max stting and I tried to move the switch position!
When I go to Apple>about this mac>more info>system report>audio>devices, my macbook doesn't show the cable
I'm angry here :/ but whatever...thanks buddy

Get a free demo copy of Rock Prodigy. It uses the Realtone cable as well. Just be sure to turn down/turn off your Mac's internal microphone - it can "listen" for your guitar as well as taking input from the cable.

If it's still kaput, then you almost certainly have a bad cable.

It definitely sounds like a faulty cable.

Hey guys thanks for all the answers, yesterday late at night I received the final answer from UBISOFT support, and they believe it's a faulty cable. I'm going to change it. Hope the new one works fine! :)

I've had this happen as well:

Restart Rocksmith
If that doesn't work, restart your Mac. Unplug the cable prior to restart
Once Rocksmith is back running, plug your cable back in. It should work at this point.

I think it's something to do with the USB porting losing track of the cable for some reason. The restart seems to fix it.

I just had this issue and found that I had my bluetooth connected to headphones. Once I disconnected the bluetooth headphones, it worked again. Don't know why that would be an issue but it worked.

That was the answer for me thanks q.lam01

Yes! I'ts exactly my experience! I've paired my Mac with a Bose SoundLink BT speaker and the behaviour is just this.
It seems to be a problem of RS, since the Sound Settings on the Mac shows the Cable and the Sound Level gauge moves if you play your instrument.

This is quite annoying and acually inacceptable behaviour

Holy thread necromancy batman!

While we all appreciate you searching before posting, resurrecting long dead threads is generally discouraged. the reason is because the people who were previously involved are likely to be long gone and will never reply again or the information in the thread may be out of date and no longer relevant.

We encourage searching, but if you don't find anything relevant that's somewhat recent we also encourage you to post a new thread.

That said, as others are pointing out make sure that the cable is properly connected both at the USB and the breakaway. even fi the breakaway seems to be seated sometimes you need to just unplug/replug it there. Also make sure the cable is correctly configured which the Rocksmith setup guide (search the web) can help you with.

As far as output devices go, USB and bluetooth speakers or headphones CAN work, but are sub optimal and are generally NOT recommended. standard analog outputs are always the most reliable and best performing.
