Game slows down, stutters, and distorts audio before ultimately freezing
First of all, I'll start by saying that this is probably a fault of the hardware rather than the software. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro on a Dell Latitude E6410, 8GB of RAM. According to the system specs, though, I should be able to run the game properly, and when it works, it works great!

I can't seem to play the game without it eventually locking up on me, though. Sometimes I'll get about an hour out of it, most of the time I'm lucky to get twenty minutes. Doesn't matter what mode I'm doing, Guitarcade or Learn a Song, eventually the game will start slowing down, but still work at a manageable rate. If I push through this, it slows down even further, starts distorting audio, and then grinds to an effective halt because at that point I'm pretty much getting minimal FPS.

I've tried:
-Disabling extra services (basically all that's left running other than core Windows services and things like my touchpad software are Steam itself, AVG antivirus, Dropbox, and a disabled Acronis backup software)
-Rebooting before playing
-Disabling firewall and antivirus
-Setting Uplay to start in offline mode (per a topic I found on Ubisoft's forums)
-Pausing Dropbox sync
-Changing display settings in the game and basically turning off everything that makes the game look nice
-Setting the resolution to 800x600 Windowed
-Going into the config and setting the UltraLowLatency to 0

I'm watching Task Manager while I play and it doesn't look like I'm taxing the CPU or RAM. I'm running out of ideas to make this work. Any help would be appreciated!

What kind of soundcard do you have installed? If you changed the sampling rate, set it to 48 KHz. Also, if you have a second Display, try to disable it.
Had the same problem, this fixed it for me.

Your laptop might be overheating and throttling CPU frequency down.

What are your temps?

Thanks for the assistance. I have only the one display.

I went into the Program Files folder, set Rocksmith 2014 to run as administrator and in compatibility for Windows 7, ran it from Steam and got an error about Steam not running. It didn't detect any of my game data either, so I went and told Steam itself to run as administrator in compatibility options and disabled UAC, slowdown still happens. If there's another way I should do it, please let me know.

It's integrated audio. OEM drivers, IDT High Definition Audio codec, Intel Display Audio. Integrated graphics, too, Intel HD Graphics (Core i5). I went ahead and reinstalled my drivers while I was at it. This machine clearly wasn't made for gaming! Verified Rocksmith USB cable settings, I'm still at 48KHz. Checked temperatures and the highest it got while monitoring was 86C, but when the slowdown happened again, it was at 70C.
