Is this software any good at teaching bass?
I just started playing bass 3-4 days ago so i only know the basics of the it. Its hard to find bass videos of this software on the internet since guitar is 100x more popular (and im loving playing at the minute, iv'e leanred heart shaped box and come as you are and a ton of random riffs like the ironman one).

If you can play maiden at the real tempo and riffs already, all you can get out of this teaching game is fun. Maybe check out scotts bass lessons :)

Yes definately. I bought RS for electric guitar but bought a bass so I could play along with that also. Check out scottsbasslessons.com and playbassnow.com

iron man, not iron maiden, boatmurder. and yes it helps with more basic learning, music theory youll have to get else where, but even if you cant learn any more it makes practice more fun, which will motivate you more to keep playing and help you develop your skills.

I use it to play bass. It helped me out a great deal. It's a very good practicing tool.

Depends on if your a hobbyist or more serious. For me I supplement my daily routine with RS. It can teach you a great deal but it is not the end all be all in bass. It is a great tool and helped me improve and it is fun playing along with the songs but remember your the mortar that holds the (bricks - Drums, Guitar, Vocals) together. The more you know about how to outline a chord and supporting what is going on the better off you will be. Sometimes it is simple like playing roots but sometimes it can be more complex, like being able to improvise or doing battle with the guitar on riffs. One of the most important lessons that RS can not teach you is how to lock in with a drummer. When you can lock in with a drummer and set back in the pocket and groove your really holding down your end of things.

Hello Vaylin, Do you currently own RockSmith 2014? Are you playing it with a guitar? If you answered yes to both of those questions, look around the options and you will find a Bass emulator. Turn on the Bass emulator and give Rocksmith a try in Bass mode... I did and then I went out and bought two Bass Guitars.
I've never really had issues finding bass gameplay videos. You can just search for "rocksmith 2014 bass" on youtube.

i found the base part really easy kept getting lots of high scores for lots of songs, 80% -95 and never played base before but can it teach you to play guitar no it cannot.

Which songs, Mulberry?

My opinion on learning to play guitar differs from yours. I have played bass for about 2.5 years and only in the last few months picked up RS. Recently, in the last couple of weeks I picked up a guitar and started playing around with it. It has helped (keyword helped) me learn guitar. I just jammed today for the first time on guitar with some folks that had been playing a couple of years and found myself quite a bit ahead of them and they were struggling to keep up. In my opinion my knowledge of scales gave me this edge. When I see a chord I see root, 5th, 7th, or root, 5th 8th, etc. Knowing your scales will also help in knowing what chord progession the song will go in (in most cases). This will allow you to anticipate where things are going. Songs I have gigged out on like Black from Pearl Jam, Black Magic Woman, Roadhouse Blues, Knocking on Heavens Door, etc that I knew prior to RS were helped by Rocksmith because I was able to be more precise with the notes and note selection. It sounds to me like you may consider throttling back on RS and work on fundamentals then reapproach it.

Thanks guys :D after reading some of these comments iv'e decicded that im going to pick it up. Also I have seen Scotts videos on Youtube and I have singed up for his website ( Just singed up, havent payed for any of the courses he has to offer ).

P.S. Rush are amazing and Geddy is my inspiration! My bass is a Fender Jazz Geddy Lee (used to be my dad's bass, but he has given it to me)

My son plays bass and seems to enjoy the bass mode on Rocksmith. But he gets lessons elsewhere as well.
He tells me that it does help, if you play a variety of songs--it helps you pick up new patterns easily and quickly.
The more different styles you play, the more it helps. Try playing stuff outside your comfort zone, and it'll stretch your ability.

Geddy is one of the best bassists out there imho. Anyone who can front a band and play bass is amazing. I could not agree more Yo! Sof!. You also have an amazing bass. Congrats.
