connecting guitar through amp?
Hi,
i just bought a electric guitar and i want to try this program but i dont have the money for it and the cable. i was wondering if i could catch this game through a steam sale and connect my guitar to my amp and my amp to my pc mic input? (i have a id:core 20) will its ruin my amp or guitar and will it even work?

You need the cable for the most part...there are work arounds but its best to have the actual cable,it is soooo worth it imo.

I bought a second hand 360 version with the cable....and took the game back and got a full refund(free cable ftw)

You really need the cable. Look around for an RS1 game with cable. Last year you could basically get RS 1 and cable for the price of the cable. The reason you want RS 1 too is that then you can buy all the RS1 dlc without any issues and for 10 bucks more get all the RS 1 on disk songs except 5 into RS 2014. Or look around for a good deal somewhere on RS 2014 and cable. Also keep an eye peeled for a sale fpr a steam key on other sites. I got RS 2014 steam key for 15 bucks on Humble Bundle during one of their sales. But I already had the cable from RS 1.

You need the cable... Just wait a little, set aside money each week, and save up to get both.

It will be worth it.

You won't be able to play the game if your guitar is connected to your amp then your amp to the microphone input on the PC. - As everyone else said, you need the cable. It's worth the money, you will have so much fun and learn a lot.

The cable also integrates with programs like Audacity, so when you're ready to branch out and jam on line using something like www.wikiloops.com you'll be ready:2014bass:

The cable is well worth it. I was a bit sceptical at first and I got mine open box from amazon at a reasonable price. You can use it for so much more than just Rocksmith. It works great with Yousician which is more lesson orientated equivalent to Rocksmith. And various VST guitar amp and effects plugins as well as recording.

Having said that, I just bought a splitter to split the guitar cable between the realtone cable and my amp. I much prefer dialing in my own tone and playing the guitar in rocksmith through my amp. I find Rocksmith not sensitive enough, I press too hard to get the sound I want to the point it feels like I'm fighting the guitar while with the amp it's more relaxed and you are almost caressing and coaxing the guitar to make sound.

So hoping to get the best of both worlds soon.

Antmax,

Be careful of which splitter you buy. Look up ground loops and optimal ways to connect RS and your amp. If you get a splitter and you hear a big hum or interference you have a goundloop and need a splitter with Ground Lift.

There are some guides here about how to do it properly.
