Cheap and easy way to eliminate realtone cable white noise.
There is nothing more annoying than playing your guitar or bass in my case and being plagued by interferance noise to spoil the sound of your playing. I play rocksmith through a electro-harmonix switchblade splitter so I can use it alongside my amp. I tried everything but couldn't eliminate the dreaded noise until today. I don't use top of the range gear but don't use cheap either in a bit to eliminate unwanted noise. My setup consited of the following and still I couldn't eliminate the realtone cable noise until today.

Bass: Schecter Stiletto Custom IV
Amp: Orange Crush 100BXT
Pedals: electro-harmonix Switchblade, MXR noise clamp, Bass Overdrive ODB-3 (Boss), Compression Sustainer CS-3 (Boss), Bass Chorus CEB-3 (Boss).
Chain Power Supply: JOYO Power Supply 2
Mains Power Extension: 8-way Monster Power Center HT800 (clean power circuitry)
Instrument Cables: All are planet waves custom series.
Patch cables: All are planet waves classic series.

I have tried my best to use equipment that was sheilded from noise but still no joy but today I tried something new. I unplugged my realtone cable from my Switchblade splitter, then took a sheilded planet waves patch cable, plugged this into the splitter first then I took a coupler and plugged the patch cable into one end and the realtone cable into the other, turned everything on and guess what......complete silence.....yipppeeeee!!! So I guess the problem is that the realtone cable is not sheilded from noise but can easily be sorted if you couple it together with a sheilded patch cable. Hope this helps some people that have experienced the same issues.

you have a ground loop problem with your switchblade Splitter. if you want to get rid of the Y-cable you need a splitter with a ground lift. I wrote up as had others the best way to make that all happen. I am glad that you have is sorted out, just thought you might like to know the real cause.

I used to have a palmer Y spliter that had a ground lift on/off button on it. That would explain why I no problems when using it. Through my own fault I shorted out the palmer splitter box and had to buy a new one. At the time cash was an issue and the Palmer box is about 3 times the cost of the switchblade box hence why I bought the cheaper one. But it also proves the saying "buy cheap, get cheap". Thanks for pointing out the real cause of my problem. I have not experienced many electrical or interference problems in my time playing hence my ignorance in alot of it so alot of my fixes are trial and error.

Yepper I did almost the same thing. I got a Livewire SPlitter fought the issue until i got the Radial Twin-City Bones. Not it's dead quite.

One thing I did think of is that I know some people have a problem with unwanted noise even playing with the realtone cable direct from their guitar and not using a seperate amp alongside. I am assuming that it would be the console/pc causing the electrical interference? If so I am assuming that the realtone cable is not sheilded? If that is the case would it be an idea to try a simailar method like I used? i.e. plugging a short sheilded patch cable dirrect into the guitar then usin the coupler to connect the realtone cable.

On a different note I am delighten I have solved my problem, have the house all to myself and a mid thirty man is about to rock out with a few beers and play some AC/DC to relive seeing them live at Hampden stadium last month. Which may I add was the most awesome gig I have ever experienced. Angus Young is brilliantly insane and those band of pensioners put most young so called hard rock bands to shame.
