Did you calibrate in the game? That can have an impact on the volume.

i did once i realized that my E string notes werent hitting but it didnt say anything about volume too low it only ever says it when im tuning

i mean my bass isnt the best and im sure that goes double for the pickups but it cant be that bad that my E string is so inconsistent wtih being detected D:

I get this also. Tried boosting the setting (forget what the hell it is called). The game had it at -5db or something. Raised it. Helped a bit. Still get the warning when I am tuning bass with finger as opposed to pick. Get it on my guitar once and awhile also.

What type of bass? Do you have active pickups ? If so check your battery

Not sure you are talking to me but I have a Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz Bass (pasive). That was the first thing I looked up after reading another thread.

I also have this problem. I have an Epiphone Thunderbird IV. Raising the volume of the real tone cable in Windows helps (but also increases feedback), but the game still thinks I'm missing open and fretted notes on tunings below E flat.

Also the tuner takes awhile to recognize the low string. Very fustrating as I was looking forward to this.

I'm looking to restring my bass but with flatwounds since they will be easier on my hands. However I'm worried this will make it worse since flatwounds are usually deeper and more mellow than bright sounding roundwounds which I already have.

its a cheapo bass that i got when i was 13 (im 24 now lol) so i'd assume its battery powered pickups and i wouldnt be the least bit surprised if the battery was dead by now, great suggestion thank you for reminding me that that is a thing.

New strings really helped my tuning issues RyanBumsRed. But I didn't use flatwounds. I was only replacing stock Indonesian strings.

yeah probably tiem for new strings as mine are getting rusty and faded lol (good thing my tetanus shot is updated) :P

My bass is brand new. I got it yesterday actually. I don't think I have tuning issues. I think it's the game failing to picking up the low notes.

No, leave the cable gain at defaults, use the gain in game and make yourself new tones to your liking.

If your instrument has active electronics, make sure that the battery is fresh too.

it realy does seem like this game sucks with low notes. i stray from anything past Eb in terms of drop tuning. the feels are bad :[
