Game counting missed notes as a hit and rewarding failure
I have recently started playing rocksmith after years of playing guitar at a basic level. Long story short i originally got the game to play / learn slayer war ensemble but soon also found custom songs too ( of which i mainly play now )

My concern is with the notes being registered as hit when i purposely miss them , i was playing the riff for the verse , i had learnt this riff from the book so i did not use rocksmith to get the notes. However this part i am using as an example instead of hitting the 3 notes i only hit one of the 3 and then played the rest , basically only playing 1 of the 3 for the whole section , yet the game kept registering these as hits , as it said nothing about "miss" or "late".

I have chosen this song as an example as it is store DLC and not custom but i notice this type of thing here and there within the game. If possible i want it to register all my mistakes so i can fix them , where as it seems i can play basic version of the riff and still have it count as success. I am thinking there is something i need to change to make it so it will point out every mistake i make so i can learn from it.

I have tried in the options to set the ( I forget he real name ) error tolerance to 0 and still this happens . Apart from this rocksmith is epic and has "Encouraged" me to play more guitar than usual , as i have a lot of ready made backing tracks and learning tools .

Yeah, it happens.

The game does a decent enough job of note detection, but is not perfect.

Is there any suggestions to ensure an optimal setup ?

There are tons of threads on several forums that post about the optimal system and/or instrument setup. I'll let you google for those.

I'm afraid that none of that will "fix" the issue where very fast sections give passes on some missed notes. I think it is too much to expect from today's technology.

What I do is use Riff Repeater and put the section on infinite repeats (mastery level repeats). Then play the section until I feel I have it mastered.

Thanks for answers as long as it is a common thing and not an isolated problem i am happy with that .

You could also try Score Attack. I generally find it to be less forgiving of mistakes (especially timing ones) than regular Learn A Song mode or Riff Repeater. It will not completely eliminate the problem though, especially for fast sections.

It could be easily made to be absolutely perfect, but then it would be frustratingly difficult for even the most skilled players. Humans are not robots, so there's a great deal of natural variation in our playing. RS is purposely forgiving to account for this. Unfortunately the detection is less than perfect as a result. Sometimes it misses mistakes, other times it thinks you missed when you didn't.

Long story short, don't take the scoring TOO seriously. Use your own brain. If you know you're missing notes, endeavor to improve.
