If you are a bass player...or would like to learn.
I strongly recommend Rocksmith. Have put hundreds of hours in on the PS3 version and still come back to it every week. Milage may vary but here's what I've found in that time...

Initially picked up the Rocksmith for guitar, being an intermediate player and curious about learning new techniques. I enjoyed it but found the tab system a challenge to adapt to - keeping track of six colours while sight reading is a bit of a mind bender. I put Rocksmith on the shefl for a while, then Bass support came out.

With a Bass guitar being an accompanying instrument I've always found practicing to bit more of a chore, just less immediately gratifying. Rocksmith had me playing every day, looking forward to it. Also immediately took to the 4 colours vs 6 format...all the issues with sight reading went away at that point. At this price it's well worth it, you'll need a compatible cable so that adds to the cost but you'll get one of the best tools for practicing Bass i've personally ever seen.

I strongly recommend the Iron Maiden DLC as well, if that is your taste. Honestly, i'm not even huge into metal but the songs are spectacular to play along with for Bass parts. Also session mode is a godsend for learning scales - plus all the arcade training games.

I never write reviews, rarely. So probably a bit more rambling than necessary - I hope this info helps anyone who loves Bass and was on the fence on this one.

Cheers.

Agreed. I always used to think I wasn't cut out to learn an instrument but I think it was because the practice was so dull. Rocksmith makes the hours fly by.

I too found playing bass surprisingly fun. And indeed a lot easier to pick up, since you can read the notes easier with just 4 strings.

I also have to agree. I had picked up the original Rocksmith because I had taken guitar lessons years ago, and wanted to dabble with it again. I went through much frustration trying to get used to the colors, so also put it away for a bit.

Fast forward to a time not long ago where I broke my strumming hand, and noticed that I could still play the bass one boring day of not doing anything (wrist was immobilized so couldn't use a pick, but could use the index and middle fingers for strumming), and found out that I enjoyed the bass much more than guitar.

I miss the setlists of the original Rocksmith (except for the forced master mode encores), but much prefer RS2014 overall. The 2014 master mode is much improved as well if you don't choose to turn it off (fading between regular and master mode depending on how good or bad you are playing a section, instead of being fully master mode in the original Rocksmith).

Can only agree as I got a Bass after I bought RS 1 & RS 2014 for guitar. I still play with both but the Bass just grabs me. I now play songs I would've never thought of or wanrted to. My favourite Bass tunes at the moment are: My Girl, Angela & American Woman. All quite easy :)

This is great news for me as I was wondering if Rocksmith worked for bass at all.I haven't played my bass for years, now this might just make me pick it up again.

As far as it being a chore to read guitar notes it is very similar for lead guitar or bass with appregiated notes. For rhythm guitar just look at the chord Am7 or C5 etc and dont worry about reading all the colors. This is of course assuming you have the chords basically down. I do a majority of my bass work nowadays on RS2014. It is just easier that way.
