Changing tunings so tedious, is there a better way?
Can I use the capo to change tunings?

Best way is to keep a seperate instrument for each tuning. When I lowered the action on my strings to play a little smoother and fast I noticed that if I went into a tuning of E flat drop D Flat I was slapping the frets alot. I would have to play with a soft touch and could not play hard. This did not fly well with me and I understood why people keep multiple instuments for different tunings.

Yes, I will go and get a few more guitars to add to my collection. This is exactly why I have 10 cars; so I can drive the one I feel "in the mood for."
keeping multible instruments is optional. you can just have one guitar and keep it to one tuning for a few days. like if i want to practice some of my custiom D Drop C tunings, i keep my guitar in that tuning for a few days and only practice those songs.

Since i got my floating bridge guitar I just stopped playing any song in RS that isnt in standard tuning. I pick up my fixed bridge one if I ever have a need to play anything else.

So sadly the best way is to have multiple instruments. At least having a fixed bridge guitar is the second best choise.

For Rocksmith, I love my recently acquired JTV Variax. I can change tunings with the flip of a switch.

My Gibson robot guitar is convenient too, for this purpose, but the Variax is even easier.

Floating bridge being when you can just press on the bridge to change pitch instead of bending the strings right? This must be why when I change tunings I need to retune 4-5 times to get it decent. Welp, suppose my next guitar will be a fixed bridge then, when I decide to drop the cash for another.

I hear ya all on that. What I did is added a Morpheus Polyphonic Drop Tune pedal I acquired a while back. When it first came out, it basically sucked. However they did a killer update to the pedal in 2011 that I came across recently and not it works as to be expected. For drop tunings, I drop the low e string to a D mechanically, then use the pedal to get into Drop D (no effect) and then all the way down to Drop A for FFDP type of stuff. No string slap as the guitar is still in E mechanicall (or Drop D in this case). I too have a Floyd Rose system and hated having to retune all the time. I have an idea for an app but cannot get a app developer to call me back. So for now, that is my setup. I also put another effect pedal I had in line with two outputs so one goes to the game and the other goes to my amp. This way I can use either or systems or both the amp and the game at the same time.

A good cheap app with use of iRig for example would really be cool to have!

Have a Floyd Rose , fitted a EVH D-tuna to it . Brilliant piece of kit can instantly change between E and dropped D . Need to stabilize the trem for it to work properly but worth doing , as an added bonus I have more sustain and greatly improved tone .

Also theres an efects pedal called octive shifter I messed with one at guitar center.
Dont know if it can make small changes IE:A440 to A447 but I think it will drop half step to Ed
No help for D and C .Gave me i idea to try like up whole step IE: like having the capo on 2nd fret. Gonna try it next time i go to Guitar center http://www.guitarcenter.com/Digitech-Whammy-Pitch-Shifting-Guitar-Effects-Pedal-107777252-i2464303.gc

one more thing if you/ve got a cheper strat type you should get rid of wammy bar and flat deck it
or invest in some good springs or floyd rose system. I flat decked mine no more out of tune problems.

One thing that could help in making it less of a pain, is to pay attention to how much you turn each string when going from your normal setting. I noticed that when changing to I think it was E sharp tuning it was a quarter turn for each string except the high E. So when I decide to do one of those songs I just automatically do a 90 degree turn on each string and a bit more on high E, quite often the strings will even come out perfectly in tune.

This removes the annoyance of slowly changing it and then even more slowly fine tuning it. Possibly just write down for each variant tuning you have the amount it turned as a quick reference for faster tuning changes.

That's a great idea tatewaki for sure. Gives ya some empircal data. Anyone know a app programmer here?

Just become a rockstar and get guitar compaines to give you guitars. You will have more guitars then you know what to do with. You can break em play em, tune em however you want.

Until then either play the songs in a same for a while, then switch.

Yea , but you are going to need to learn to play all those different tunings to become a rockstar , so a bit of a catch 22 :-)
