HELP!!! My kid deleted my profile accidently

I downloaded Recuva and have been searching for the file that is deleted and can't find it.

I don't know what directory to search for the profiles in. Anyone got any ideas to help me get out of this mess?

I am not on a pc (have a mac), but you should try to not install any programs to the hard disk that the deleted files were on...It might overright them.

Most versions of windows have a trashcan, have you opened it and looked in there? Unless you emptied it, it hopefully will be there

It should be in
YourSteamFolder\userdata\profileidhere\221680\remote

Your Steam folder is just were you installed it.

Typically C:\Program Files (x86) on a 64bit Windows machine

If it was deleted inside game its gone. Unless you backed up to the steam cloud.then you have a chance to restore it to the last backup date. ;-(

He deleted it at the start up menu. I don't know how to back it up on the steam cloud. I typically launch the game from steam. Does it back up on its own? If so how do I recover it thru that.

I tried using Recuva and got the menu to display the deleted profile names but when launching it there is no memory of any game play or anything for the lost profiles.

Not helpful for you now, but backups. There are two kinds of computers users after all; those that have suffered a catastrophic loss of data, and those that /will/.

I enjoy using GameSave Manager + copy.com (or dropbox or google drive or ...).

to allow steam cloud got to library>right clich on rocksmith >go to update enable steam cloud
when you want to back up game right click rocksmith and pick back
this works with all games that have stem cloud
but you can back up games that dont so you could lose those files with hard drive fail

You can easily use the build-in backup feature from Windows. Starting from Windows 7, you can manually select which files and folders you want to backup.
