Has all the effects and stuff you'll ask for, no need for even a pedal board for the most part if you get its MK2 short/longboard with it.
You can connect it to headphones, active speakers or you can buy a power amp + cab. I'm in the process of specifically amplifying mine with PA's and then I be in delay heaven...
As for virtual amps, I don't use any free ones, so I can't tell you. I use Guitar Rig and a bunch of Neural DSP plugins (any Archetype is a great start. Tim Henson's just came out, which looks and sounds fantastic)
As for free, I've had experience with AmpliTube (only the paid version, but there is a free version) and it was okay. No idea how the free version compares though.
If money is a concern, you could always sail the 7 seas, if you catch my drift.
