PC vs PS3
Hey, I'm going to buy Rocksmith 2014 really soon, but i don't know if i should buy it on PC or PS3 because many people says that PC gives you much more in the game. The good thing if i connect it to my PS3 is that i get a much larger screen and i get to use the surround system for much better experience....any thoughts?

I dont have RS for the PS but do on xbox 360 and prefer it on PC even if screen is smaller.
but I have a good sound system for my pc.Had to buy a analog converter for xbox way to laggy HDMI audio. Read the same for PS,But it was only 5 bucks plus an HDMI for video cable I had.

I played the original on PS3 before finally moving to PC. I definitely prefer the PC version, because it's easier to connect to my real rig, and I can play it on my laptop when I'm traveling, or sitting on my back porch.

Other than CDLC availability on the PC, the features on the different platforms are the same.

Oh yea, that's right....i can use it on laptop aswell....that gives a huge bonus for me as a beginner to practice everywhere...much easier than dragging my PS3 everywhere i go...thanks :D I think im gonna go for PC

Use the PC. Also remember that you can't move DLC's between platforms (Xbox, PS3, PC, Mac)

However if you have a desktop and laptop PC you can load up everything on each platform.

I have an Airbook and iMac. I play RS 2014 on both platforms. When I want to go out in the backyard i take the Airbook and an external speaker set. Fun to have a beer on the deck and play some great tunes in the summer.

I love that the PC version is backwards-compatible and that I can take it wherever I go on my laptop.

CDLC was only mentioned in passing, but that is a big reason to go PC instead of a console. I think to run CDLC on consoles you have to jailbreak them.

I have the Mac version and when I play I output the audio into loud external computer speakers and output the video to my tv screen using an HDMI cable.

Nothing wrong with consoles ...

... but, um, yeah ....

...PC FTW!

But should i buy the PC version on CD or via steam because if i do it with CD i get the cable included, but im afraid it will run something else than steam, like Uplay or something

No worry, there is only a Steam version of Rocksmith 2014.

You could see if you could find the original RS1 with a cable for dirt cheap, get it, then get RS2014 download on Steam. Then have both versions of the game and a cable. Just add the import tool DLC for another $10 to get the RS1 songs moved up to RS2014 and you have a lot of songs.

How is the screen smaller? The game fills the whole screen, just like the other versions. It's your own fault if you put it on a smaller screen and has nothing to do with what version you're playing.

Can confirm that the retail disc is the steam version, I bought mine from gamestop.

Because I play xbox on a 50in tv and the pc on a 22in monitor ;-).
No matter where you get RS for PC you have to activate it thru steam and also asks for you to make a uplay account but.I have a friend on pc that has never set up that account and plays exclucsivly offline

If HDMI input lag would not be a thing I would immetiall say just connect your PC to your 50" TV, but depending on your setup this might be more trouble than it would be worth. :)

I've kinda lost what the whole point of this thread is about?

FWIW, I'v had all my PCs hooked up to flat screen TVs for the last few years. No reason not to, as they are cheaper than monitors and work fine for gaming.
