As long as the guitar has a spot to plug it into an amplifier or computer, like an electric or electric acoustic, you will be fine. I believe they sell some cheaper electric guitars at Walmart, Target, and Best Buy! Good Luck!
Try this one: search at www.target.com Spectrum Vintage Series (AIL 97TWN) ST Style Electric Guitar- Brown
It wouldn't let me paste the URL, but this one would be a good starter guitar! It even has a whammy bar! $102.99 and has some extras!
Ibanez GART60
Ermmm, this *is* a LP-style guitar...
(Im not from US so the prices are aproximate.)
-Epiphone LP Special II bundled with amp, soft case, strap, 1.8m cable, 3 picks, Clip-on tuner and a DVD with guitar lessons (probably wont need that since I bought this game already) for $250
-Ibañez GART 60 (the one someone mentioned) at $200.
As for used guitars I found these
-Ibanez Gio GRX70-QA $100
-Ibanez Rg321mh $200
-Yamaha Erg- 121c $60
So which of these would be the best option?
As for the cable, I already bought it, so that is not a problem.
Starting out, you really don't need an amp unless you are going to play with a drummer or another friend who has bass or guitar. The game has a built in variety of amps and you can get by playing on the computer for a while unless you need to jam with someone. So if you don't need an amp, that may affect your decision. From what I can tell, any of the guitars you list would be fine to start with. If you have a friend that already plays, they might be able to help you test them out and decide. You should fret every string on every fret to make sure that each sounds a different note. If there is a problem with a fret being too high, you might have a spot or two where you don't get a clean tone/note. Look down the neck from both the head and body to make sure there is no twisting of the neck. I'm sure others will add things to check for.
As far as not needing lessions, I disagree. RS does a great deal to teach you, but you must also seek out other sources. As a beginner I really reccomend Justin Guitar's youtube lessons. He has a whole beginners series and I think a playlist to play them in order. The more you seek out information, the better a grasp you will have of the guitar. Also RS really won't teach you any theory so you have to seek that out from other places.
