Rocksmith Plus (2023)?
With the current news (ie RS14 leaving storefronts) I was curious to look into the future of RS that was suggested after the last pack and found out about RS+. After searching through these forums found a post a year ago saying it was pretty mid, is that still the current sentiment? One thing that turns me off of the.... game? is that it seems like much less of a game and just a dull shell.

One of my favorite aspects of RS & 14 was how it gamified learning, I'm not super interested in paying monthly/yearly subs to improve my guitar hobby but am interested in having a fun video game where I can play guitar. So any current thoughts on RS+?

What I like most is that it holds a slider to change difficulty, which is most useful when you haven't played a song for a while. But there's also the lack of a lot of good songs (though they teamed up with WB music this month) and still no 5-string support.
As for the game element -not in RS+ - I don't care too much for I am using RS in general to learn to play bass.

I'll just grab a couple of additional DLC songs here and see what happens in the future. I hope DLC will be available to grab, but I fear there'll be a license thingy going on soon...

Rocksmith+ has almost all game features removed, and a song library that is like learning royalty free music. If you love playing niche/world music you've never heard of....

Thanks for the replies =). Its unfortunate because I'm sure most of us agree 14 was/is great, I was hoping + would be updated/improved because I saw the reviews of when it first released and wasn't impressed. Sad to hear it never got any better.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Sorry if i change the topic but do i need a Uplay account to use the Song's if i buy one in Steam. I don't want an additional Account added to my Desktop because it is always stressful nowdays, you need for everything a thirdparty software and i mean litterly everything.

I need to learn some basic movement for my future project's, I play mandatory Piano.

Thanks for help.

Give it a try if you can stomach the subscription. I for one can't, the beta was downgrade to 2014 in every aspect.

The only one that seemed cool on + was the profile where you could keep track of your improvement. But even that wasn't implemented then. I don't have a clue if they dropped it altogether or is it in any useful working order by now.

TBH Subs have very much become a sore spot for me. It is making less and less financial sense to pay for all the subs that exist then just owning games or buying DLC for example so this was a huge deterrent for me getting/trying it.

Rocksmith+ seems a shadow of RS14 tbh. Almost every band I like is missing from the library, and the couple that aren't have 1 song or a 'live' album.

I did the trial (that they finally decided to offer) and it didn't even work. I downloaded the game, started it up, and it just kept telling me that I didn't have an active subscription, click here to look at subscription options. I clicked the button and all it did was take me to the page showing that I had an active subscription already. I sent a ticket to ubisoft support which was completely ignored. Really glad I didn't actually spend any money.

Speaking as someone with varied and eclectic musical tastes and interests, the library in Rocksmith+ is abysmal. A few good songs and artists, but mostly trash that was probably royalty free (or dirt cheap), and the dregs from albums. Few popular songs (compared to the sheer number of songs available).

I have found a couple of interesting songs that I wouldn't have heard previously, but many of them only have chord charts, rather than an actual tablature. I can generate (relatively accurate) chord charts on the fly with my Positive Grid Spark, which doesn't require subscription and doesn't introduce lag. I also find the extra bubbly tabs harder to visually track than the older, more square tabs.

I'm going to play a bit acoustically this week using my phone (I work away from home, a relatively recent development, and the only reason I even signed up for the trial), but I've already canceled the subscription. If it were cheaper, then I would consider it ($5 a month max), but it just isn't worth it, even at the yearly price.

Just so it isn't all nay-saying: the note detection has significantly improved, as has response (less audio lag). There is also greatly improved support for those of use who are color deficient. And, thankfully, all of the distracting visual effects can be disabled (kind of a stretch to list it as a positive, but I like options).

The song library is all a matter of personal preference. To me it's one of the strongest parts of Plus because it has genres that were barely there or completely lacking before. Particularly on bass there is a lot more song content to practice and learn with. They recently signed a license agreement with Warner Music and we are starting to see songs from that agreement. They also just added keyboard/piano support so there was quite a few piano focused songs just added (they are also available on guitar/bass.) But yes it's going to come down to personal preference. You can check out the songs in the library online at the Rocksmith website to see if the songs interest you. They also offer a month long trail with the introduction of Piano/Keyboard.
I ONLY played bass on RS+. There are some nice additions, but nothing that is worth the cost of admission. The selection is just plain weird, unless you just absolutely adore Hispanic music from decades past (and some of that music is quite good, so I'm not knocking it). Personally, I'd rather just use CDLC in RS2014, or buy score books so I can read the sheet music with accurate notation.

And as far as piano goes, I'm not sure RS style notation is a good way to go. Sounds like an even bigger crutch than RS is for guitar and bass. Rocksmith is an excellent toy, but a terrible learning platform.
