Realtone Cable Not Working (Code 10 error)
I'm at the end of my rope here. I've tried everything.

I have an original Realtone cable that came with the first Rocksmith.

My computer is a Lenovo Y50 with an Intel Core i7-4700 and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860. I have Windows 8.1.

I have all my USB ports set to high speed. They're all outputing 500 ma of power. I have two 3.0 ports and one 2.0 port. I have tried the cable in all three.

I tried disabling xHCI via my device manager and that didn't work (my PC wouldn't even recognize that I'd plugged my cable in after that). I tried uninstalling it via my device manager, but it just instantly reinstalled itself.

I've been working on this for three ♥♥♥♥ing hours and I have no ♥♥♥♥ing idea what to do. Someone please help me out here. I just want to play my guitar.

Just curious, do you happen to have another audio interface or a USB compatible pedal (like the Zoom G2.1u?) If so, I recently ditched the cable for my Behringer guitar link, better tone clarity, more treble and sustain. All you do is install the RS2014 no cable patch and you can play with any audio interface (I believe it also works if you have a 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor and plug into your line in). I wish I could help you with the cable though assuming you don't have access to another sound device, good luck with it.

Quote from another source regarding code 10

"I've actually formatted my ssd twice and did a clean install of win 8.1 pro each time. I even grabbed a spare hdd and installed win 7 pro on it, and the cable then worked. It's just with 8.1 that it doesn't"

Also check you Device Manager, "Show Hidden Devices" under USB devices, uninstall all the ones highlighted grey (maybe a conflicting driver issue).

Also check that if you have a gaming headset with a mic connected (or any other recording devices for that matter), that you temporarily disable it by right-clicking the volume icon, select recording devices, disable everything except stereo mix and Rocksmith Cable.

That's my only suggestions for now though.

Sounds like a Win 8.1 problem. I'm running Windows 10, it runs flawlessly even when I did use the cable.

Not long ago someone else had this problem with a Levno
and I beleive the ony soultion he found was to use a powered USB hub dispite the fact he checked and had enough power to the port he was using.
Like I told him I refuse to work on Leveno's. I am not a Pro PC person but know my way around and Leveno's seem to be very picky PC's in my small experince.I also came across this from MS a while back. It also offers the same soulition and a few other things to try.

I tried all of that. No luck.

I guess I'll try the no cable patch.

Thanks anyway.

The only way I could solve it on my Lenovo was to install a StarTech.com 4 Port PCI Express Low Profile High Speed USB Card (PEXUSB4DP) and plug the RealTone cable into that.

Yea, the xHCI thing has driven me crazy. I hate not being able to rid myself of it. Thanks for the recommendation.

sometimes unplugging some other usb items or moving to another port works for me, but yeah that cable is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage for the price and i wish ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ would allow for better third party cables

I had read that I needed to unplug other USB items and had tried that but had always left my mouse and keyboard in and that did not work. So I opened device manager and selected show hidden items and removed all the disconnected "Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter" listed under the audio devices and then removed all the USB audio devices that were not connected under the audio devices section.
Then I unplugged ALL usb devices and then plugged in my powered USB 2.0 hub into a USB 2.0 port and then a few seconds later I plugged in the cable and it was recognized.
I then plugged in my keyboard and mouse usb dongle and started the game.
I'd noticed that plugging in a USB headset switched over the input from the Rocksmith cable to my microphone and then I couldn't switch the input back without having the driver fail.

I hope this helps someone as this was extremely frustrating and inconsistent.
