No need to use the beta trick. Just update your mods.
Ubi server down might be coincidence.

Youri, can you give a small explanation of what "update your mods" means entails?
TY.

It's called keeping your software up to date and in sync. Either turn off all updates and your system will continue to work as always or (more risky) try to keep everything updated and in sync with each other. The problem there is sometimes one thing will update, e.g. your OS, but the other software lags behind. Welcome to computer ownership!

Sorry but I reinstalled it before I post here, and it was not working with a fresh install, and no mod or custom song. So it is clearly a softawre problem.

I don't want to defend Ubisoft but they updated the game and gave the users a way to still play the custom songs while waiting for modders to update the cdlc dll...
I can't remember any developer doing that before...

But what software? What OS are you on? What has changed since you last used it? It could be configuration changes, different hardware, anything on your system that has changed. This is why I say turning all updates off is the safest way to go as then you control what changes.

RS2014 Windows 10 Pro 64 Bits. Same configuration, same hardware, I just havent used the software for several monthes. Beta trick works for me, but that just unbelievable that on a fresh install it is not working.

I'm still using the "justincaseweneedit" so aptly named version as well. And set steam updates to manual.

Can you develop on this "justincaseweneedit"?
Since the latest update, I´ve been using the "previous version" beta, and it worked fine for me... ...up until yesterday. Today the game doesn´t start anymore.

Update: I got the game running again. What I did differently this time? Unplugged one peripheral from its USB port (it was a steering wheel and pedals). Can you believe it?

TBH game controllers like gamepads, joysticks, and steering wheels are one of the most common causes of errors with games that aren't set up to use them. And sometimes for games that are. PC is different from console in that sense.

Yes, if you don't want to deal with this kind of thing go with a console. Computers take a bit more effort. Unfortunately consoles aren't the best platform for high performance audio though which RS needs. There are always trade offs.
Also no CDLC on console, which is a dealbreaker for me, even if I had a console :D
