Playing Rocksmith without internet
Any way to get playing Rocksmith without net connection ? I really don't see why it requires it, honestly ... And don't say piracy, as the game is widely available as torrent.

Come to think of it, I should just crack it.

Edit: When I say I should crack it, I meant applying a fix to the copy of Rocksmith 2014 I own on Steam. Sorely to be able to play online. By the way, while looking for a torrent of Rocksmith 2014, I found a massive pack of 2700 exercises and songs. Which is simply considered unofficial DLC, so go for it !

Edit 2: It is possible to set uPlay to offline mode and play Rocksmith without internet connection. Bottie also says that you don't even need to set uPlay to offline, you can simply hit Escape while it says Connecting to Servers to go straight to main menu and be able to play.

Hey yeah, uPlay DOES have an offline mode, great !

Is it really piracy if you already own the game ? Saw this torrent for Rocksmith 2014, has literally 2700 songs and exercises packed with the game. Very cool !

It is considered piracy, despite owning the game. (I'm sure there's lots of ♥♥♥♥-house lawyers that will tell you differently though, as I've seen them all my life. I've often seen them wrong as well and glad I didn't take their advice.) That would likely be since most would have it on a separate platform, (such as XBone or PS4) and then trying to get it on PC. Of course, if you already have it on pc and then got torrents, while already having paid for those songs on pc, ... well that's a sticky subject that most wouldn't have done anyway, (but rather being taking dlcs that they didn't purchase). For me, the bigger problem are viruses and trojans being injected into those torrents. I'd rather pay for the songs I want and not have to have my security destroyed.

Best of luck in your music endeavors.

I think having purchased the game on console then cracking it on PC is legit, as you have already purchased the title. I get that not everyone will agree, but some companies actually offer a free upgrade to transition to another platform. I see forcing you to purchase a second time to play on a second platform (like if you sell your console and switch to PC only) as greed, so I don't have a problem with torrenting in that case.

Torrents are merely a distribution platform. Do you know about emulators ? Websites that distribute software to recreate consoles like the PS2 AND also distribute full games are legal. They simply do not give you the bios necessary to actually run the console, meaning you would have to copy it from the actual console in your possession. Downloading an ISO of Final Fantasy 7 is entirely legal, IF you own the PS1 game discs.

Viruses and trojans, meh. Not really an issue. When I was younger and unemployed, I would torrent a lot, can only remember a single instance where it messed up my computer.

For CDLC, I've noticed that official DLC isn't available. Meaning if you want to play a song Ubisoft produced for the game, you have no choice but to purchase it. I'm entirely fine with that.

Torrenting a pack of unofficial songs and exercises, and a crack to allow me to play offline (if uPlay didn't support that, which I found it does thanks to MTZIGG) ? That's 100 % legit.

Well I'm pretty happy with my finds (Rocksmith can run without internet, and a pack of 2700 songs and exercises). I predict August (no internet month ! yay ...) will be quite productive for my playing !

Thanks and yes I know quite a bit about torrents, mirc, and many other distribution platforms. As for the issue you asked, Zigg and I weren't giving you our opinions on the matter, but Ubi's position. That is unless it's changed fairly recently, but I highly doubt it. Since this is the RS 2014 Hub, I try to stay clear of my personal opinion of what's right or wrong when asked these sorts of questions, but rather just stick to the publisher's rules. Of course, you're in charge of yourself so do what you feel is best. Best of luck.

Ah yes, I got carried away. If there wasn't a way to play without having an internet connection though, I wonder what would be Ubi's stance on cracking a purchased (Steam) version of the game (purely to be able to play without internet). Hopefully they wouldn't mind.

Probably wouldn't. I don't think they'd even have a way to know if that were the case.

Erm... when you start the game without having an internet connection and it starts this "connecting to uplay" ♥♥♥♥, just press escape :D it cancels the connection and you can just proceed to the main menu :)

maybe not if you own it but you are supporting piracy and in the end it costs us all
Just saying ;-) .And as Msyn pointed out not a very smart places to stick you fingers ;-)

Well, Uplay is pretty much the worst thing that ever happened to PC gaming. I own some really cool games by Ubisoft, but I can't play any of them because the server with my account on it never works. Maybe if people pirate Ubisoft games enough they go bancrupt and the devs they hired work for another publisher so we don't have to deal with Ubisofts bullcrap anymore. But I doubt this will work ;)

Clearly, the death of his dear Nana was an absolutely marvelous experience as opposed to GASP, using Uplay! OH THE HORROR!

I'm surprised a discussion is continuing. The post says, "Come to think of it, I should just crack it." Not much else to discuss really, unless I'm missing something.

You don't even have to use the uplay software with RS. I know I don't. RS itself connects to uplay servers, but as has been posted, you can play the game offline.
