Can I use a microphone to sing in session mode?
There's a microphone setting in the general options, but it doesn't seem to... do anything... I've got a decent-ish USB mic plugged in, and my on-board mic, but neither of them seem to be sending any sound to the game in any of the modes I've tried. I know it was never meant to be scored like the guitars, but what DO the microphones actually do in the game? I was expecting to plug it in, turn on the setting, and have my voice come through while I play whatever. My usb mic has a light that flashes when it's active, and that light hasn't flashed at all, as though the game isn't asking it for any signals.

I often sing and play my bass to entertain myself, and I realized that if I play through session mode, I can have reverb and the ocean added to my sound, which is great! But I was hoping I could plug in my microphone and get some reverb on my vocals too, maybe open Audacity at the same time and record some of it. Is there a way to do this?

It's essentally Karaoke. The Mic needs the setting and something like Rock Band mic works. Also only works when the song is running.

I just went though this whole thing with an Shure SM58 and AD interface. Finally did the following. Here I my thread and look at RCOLE's link. It worked for me.

Thanks. I'd read those, but it seems to me they're all about adapting XLR mics to hook into RS. Since I've already got a USB mic, shouldn't it just work?

EDIT: Oh. Just finally noticed the part about "and solder on the A/D converter and id chip from a Rockband/Guitar hero USB microphone." So is this like the RealTone thing, where just because you have a mic, if it's not the RIGHT mic, it won't work? Maybe I just don't know enough about microphone tech to really follow these conversations...

Dereaj --

Not to worry I didn't get it the first time either. Just go to a used game store and pick up a used rock band mike for about $10.00US. That's what I paid last saturday. The mike itself will work.

I also went back and tried using my edierol A-D system again, after learning a bit and it didn't work. You need that little converter/id think yes like the RS cable. But at least it's only about 10 USD.

Ok, it's just that I already have an XLR cable...
