A guy did convert an XLR mic cable on the Ubisoft Rocksmith forums.
You need to cut an end off of an XLR mic cable, and solder on the A/D converter and id chip from a Rockband/Guitar hero USB microphone.
If I can find that thread, I'll post a link here.
Really in the end since you'll need the USB mic, it is easier just to use it. Quality shmality, the USB mic will work fine for this game and they are dirt cheap.
Here ya go, here the link to the conversion.

I also think there is a little reverb on the voice, so it is better than just a mic not run through the game ... unless of course one has outboard gear to run a mic through.
It is more or less just karaoke.
We love your voice Ian.
While we're on the subject of Drum simulators, which we weren't, but we are now. Someone please gift this to Lars Ulrich so he can learn to keep time. Thanks.

LOL
Karaoke with someone else singing sounds like it could be fun though, maybe I will force someone to listen to me play so they can sing along ;-)

The Behringer PA allows for a wireless mic, or XLR mic inputs.
It also has bluetooth for just jammin tunes from your smartphone.
It is pretty cool. And just $179.

If you already have a big amp or sound system that will allow inputs the advantages of a mixer is many more inputs and control of each. Also the yamaha comes with Cubase software which is great for recording and mixing....just not recording with RS.
Have fun what ever you end up doing.
