What you need is just a Rockband or Guitar Hero mic. They are cheap.

A guy did convert an XLR mic cable on the Ubisoft Rocksmith forums.

You need to cut an end off of an XLR mic cable, and solder on the A/D converter and id chip from a Rockband/Guitar hero USB microphone.

If I can find that thread, I'll post a link here.

Really in the end since you'll need the USB mic, it is easier just to use it. Quality shmality, the USB mic will work fine for this game and they are dirt cheap.

Here ya go, here the link to the conversion.

What can you do with the microphone? Is just to amplify your voice when you are playing? If so, I better not.

I think there is an achievement, but yeah, the vocals are not scored.

I also think there is a little reverb on the voice, so it is better than just a mic not run through the game ... unless of course one has outboard gear to run a mic through.

It is more or less just karaoke.

Yeah, if for a Karaoke party using RS 2014. So no answer on how to run the mike though RS?

yeah i get it. I have external gear that I can use with the Mic. Whole Mixing board, loudspeakers, Peavay GPS 3K amp, etc. What just hoping to use RS. Oh well.

That's what he posted. Use a cheap USB mic or mod one of your own according to the link. Easy peasy.

We love your voice Ian. :PlayMusic:

While we're on the subject of Drum simulators, which we weren't, but we are now. Someone please gift this to Lars Ulrich so he can learn to keep time. Thanks.

Msyn, I am not sure you have heard me sing but trust me, it's not pretty even with reverb. LOL!

Karaoke with someone else singing sounds like it could be fun though, maybe I will force someone to listen to me play so they can sing along ;-)

I run the sound out of my laptop head phone jack into my Mixer. Yamaha MG10XU...from there out to my 120 watt amp using it as a speaker or any sound sytem will work. I can use several mics if wanted controled seperately or added guitars. It may not be exactly what your wanting but I'm able to sing along whith any rs songs or yotube karaoke or........

That's a great idea. I still have to go get a mixer. Been thinking along that line for a bit. I was jus thoping to us RS as a hub. Thanks Windsurfrjeff

I somtimes use a Behringer Europort MPA40bt ... also connected from my laptop's headphone jack.

The Behringer PA allows for a wireless mic, or XLR mic inputs.

It also has bluetooth for just jammin tunes from your smartphone.

It is pretty cool. And just $179.

Your welcome...... I looked at Rcoles alternative ..... looks pretty cool as well.
If you already have a big amp or sound system that will allow inputs the advantages of a mixer is many more inputs and control of each. Also the yamaha comes with Cubase software which is great for recording and mixing....just not recording with RS.
Have fun what ever you end up doing.
