Good Bass Guitars for Rocksmith?
So, I found a lot of interesting bass guitars I want to pick up, but I'm worried I'm going to run into the same problem I did with the electric guitars (single-coil not registering notes well). Do I need humbuckers? I'm thinking about the Epiphone Toby IV Deluxe. Thanks in advanced.

there are many choices. If you are dipping your toe into the Bass Guitar... Do what I did. I set up budget of about $300 and found the best I could. I ended up with a entry Ibanez GIO active pickups. It needed a bit of fine tuning (I am very picky) but took me a long way down the road. And I still play it.

Looking at the Epi you are considing I don't think that you are going to go to far afield and it will be a good trip.

Pull the Trigger and start you next challange.

P.S. I am putting about 3 hours on my bass tonight. I picked 5 songs to master in all tracks hope to have it done by the end of the month. Goals my friend.

When I first started with RS I got the erge to give bass a go. Didn't want to spend a lot of money on a bass because I figured I would get tired of it and loose interest. So I purchased a new Peavey Millennium 4 string bass for $250. Best instrument purchase I've made. I have 2 other basses and 4 guitars. The Peavey Millennium gets more love that all the others put together. Works and sounds good in RS 2014. For under $300 I feel they are hard basses to beat.

Most Ibanez entry basses are more than enough to get you going, either the GIO or an SR300, but the game happily detects the much lower output from my from my J-bass knockoff (not to shabby for about $75 to test the waters)

I have a Squire modified Jazz bass. They are rated better than the cheaper Fenders. Very nice looking bass. Some string buzz, but once it was setup it is ace. Would really consider looking at them.

I have a GSR 205 GIO which I still play semi-frequently. It's a bit clacky due to the relatively light bridge, but is an otherwise solid low end bass.

I just wanted to know if I could play bass so I got a new $300 MSRP bass for $179 that Rocksmith treats better than my $2000 Gibson Les Paul guitar. I think that the program may work better on bass.

I have a Ibanez SR300-WB, it's a nice Entry/Mid level bass, I highly recommend it personally for anyone who wants:

24 frets
Active Pickups
Mahogany Body
5 Piece Rosewood neck
Not shiny paint that looks gooey after 10 minutes ;)

UK SIte, but here's the link:

Thanks for the input all! I decided to go with the Toby IV Deluxe since it was well priced @ $249 and has humbucker pickups. I'll try it out and if it doesn't work well I'll probably try the Vintage PJ Bass from Squier. I just didn't want to risk it with single-coils.

I had an old Washburn XB100, I thought is was okay but then I accidentally broke the Vol pot. I thought it was time for an upgrade so I bought a Squire Jaguar for only $159 brand new online. I'm super stoked and recommend if you're on a tight budget.

When I decided to pick the bass up again after not playing for decades, found a great used bass online for $80, Ibanez GSR200, loved it so much, got another one for the same price for drop d tuning so I wouldn't have to reset tuning all the time. I enjoyed these two so much I went ahead and pulled the trigger and got a brand new Ibanez GSR205SM with the natural burst to black and I couldn't be happier. All three work great with rocksmith2014, as does my Epiphone Les Paul Special II regular guitar. Now if I could just find a way to plug in my frankendrums or my keyboard to rocksmith2014 I'd be in Heaven!
