New problem - Realtone cable not being detected
I've been playing this for months and the cable stopped being detected this week. Are there any things that I can do to test the cable before going to buy a new one? The usb port is working just fine.

Since it could be various things, I'm going to point you in the direction for more info. If you're able to narrow it down and need some advice, feel free to reply. Also if this doesn't seem to help narrow it down, just let me know. Best of luck.

Real Tone cables can break just like the real ones. If you think that may be your issue, there are a few videos on repairing them on Youtube.

The cable isn't sturdy. If you were rough with it, you might have broke the wires in the cable. I've had a functioning cable for over 2 years, but I baby it. Have you tried listening to the input in windows without the game? That will prove that no signal is coming into the computer.

Well, how is it not being detected? Is it not listed in devices/device manger? Or does Rocksmith not seem to know it's connected?

Tried disconnecting it from both the USB and quick connect?
Ifi t's not present in device manager or has a bang (!) on it, have you checked for the error code, removed/reinstalled, or tried it on a dfifferent port?
Tried ion another PC?

Rocksmith doesn't know it's connected. However, I didn't check the device manager so I'll have to give that a shot later before buying a new cable.

Assuming that it's present and functioning in device manager try simply unplugging it from the breakaway then connecting it again, that often kicks it into gear.

If the cable isn't present or isn't functioning in device manager then you need to remove and reinstall it, or try moving it to another USB port. Let us know if you need more help.

How to check you cable
This is with the Game off
Go to your recording devices >properties>Listen tab >check listen to this device>click apply
make sure the volume on the RTC is up and the PC's as well and try it.
It will have very bad lag but if you can hear it with out static your cable is ok
1 more thing to try. Unplug >shut down PC >restart make sure you have nothing but the KB and mouse pluged in no flash drives either>let it reboot all the way >then plug it in

I had to turn off the "Intel xHci usb setting" in my motherboard bios for my cable to be detected, took me awhile to figure it out so that might be worth looking into. The drivers always failed for the cable and sometimes it would'nt detect it at all until i turned that setting off.

Okay, so finally tried a few things.

1) The Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter is showing up in my connected devices.
2) The cable is showing with the recording device list. I checked the "listen to this device" and applied.
3) I have an electric acoustic and changed out the battery in my tuner/volume thing, but don't think that has an impact on the chord connection in game.

No luck. Any other ideas?

Does the game say "Cable not detected" or can you just not hear your guitar?

The game says "cable not detected."

Hmmm, ...

Unless there is a yellow exclamation next to it in device manager, then...

you must have another app stealing the cable.

The guitar is not the issue at this point. The cable should be detected even without the cable plugged into any guitar.

Check device manager and see if there is a yellow exclamation mark by the cable device.

Cable is showing a green check mark even without the guitar attached or game running. I'm stumped!

I appreciate everyone's help so far.

Green check mark? I am drawing a blank on where this would be? Do you have a screen shot of this?

Also do you have a screenshot of your device manager for this device?

The green check mark means it is the default device. In the recording device tab
