Not recognising the Low E string
So I just started using Rocksmith 2014 recently and things seemed to be going alright, but then the game seemed to occasionally be missing when I played the Low E string. It didn't seem tied to an particular fret as even some open strings played seem to count as a "miss." So I figured I hadn't tried playing this guitar for a long while, maybe I just need some new strings.

So I restrung the whole guitar (because why not and I got a similar but not as noticeable problem with the high E) but what do you know, still seems to be missing the majority of the low E notes.

Any ideas what the problem could be? Tuning seems fine before every song, but then once it gets going, nadda.

You need to apply less pressure on the low E string than the rest of the strings.

The other thing to check is the level the Rocksmith Realtone cable is at. I had a similar problem when I first started with Rocksmith 2014 and found that the cable gets reset to a level of 17 when starting Rocksmith. Once I upped the level in Windows to 57, it worked a whole lot better particularly for picking up the lower strings.

Well... There could be a couple of problems. First, change which pickup you are using. The bridge pickup may work better then the neck pickup. Also, turn your tone and volume knobs up and re-do the calibration. If those do not work, then you may want to have the guitar setup. You may have to have the action and pickup height adjusted. You can do those yourself, but a shop will make sure they are adjusted to where they need to be and also check the intonation and straightness of the neck.

I used to have a problem with the high and low E strings... but after having my guitar setup it has been working great.

What Dr. Dee stated is old advice. That setting can now be set inside Rocksmith under Options --> Audio Settings --> Real Tone Cable Gain. It is a setting that Rocksmith added as a work around for guitars that are setup to be too quiet. If your strings are too far away from your pickup, it makes it quiet. You can use that setting, but having a guitar shop correct the quiet guitar problem during a setup helps your guitar to sound the best it can.

All the above. two main reasons for this intonation and nut height.Low end guitars pay little attition to these two important steps in a new guitar.Because they are time consuming. It is usually very high so when you fret the note its out of tune.Easy way to tell.Hit space bar in game,Tune the low E. Fret the low E on the first fret Look at the note meter it should show F in tune if not than the nut is to high.Take it to music store or look on youtube if you are handy for guitar setup. These thing are done in order 1.Neck relief 2.action height (includes the seting of strings to match the radius of your fretboard) 3 nut height 4 intonation. I have done these 4 steps to low end guitars they make very good starters. So dont think you have to go and get an expensive guitar. They often need set up also.If there is not a lot of nut work its about 50-70$.:summersun:
