Why does everything have to be cynical these days? This video is not helpful to anyone.
I have actually watched this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqA0UObUpTE
This dude is calm, has a lot of experience and explains everything in a calm and adult manner with no hyperbole.
Can you say why? I have had nothing but strats, but I haven't played for quite a while and got back into it recently with another cheap strat, because I wasn't sure I'd stick with it.
All I can say so far is that I love the sound of a Les Paul. It is warmer than a strat and not so screamy. I also regularly turn off the vol knob on my strat while playing :P.
They are two very different instruments. From look to feel to sound so it will end up being a very personal choice. Most recently was a 2015 LesPaul studio, Comfort and weight wise I wish I would have gone with an SG.
To be honest If I had a chance at a complete do over.and had to go Gibson in to days world I would Get a epiphone LesPaul custom., love my buddies It is a work of art and quality,I have messed with Gibson standard at the store In my opinion they do not deserve the price tag.The epiphone is by far superior in quility, Just go at touch and play them yourself don't buy from the mail.I have no doubt you will understand.
Before the early 2000's this would not have been the case. As it is now Gibson and Fender's are nothing more then a Brand name now and get a big pass on quality.
Ex Fanboy
When I feel the need for a new strat, I will take a look at Kiesel again, so thanks for pointing them out.
A less paul tends to have more Bass sound on the neck pick up which is why most dont record more then 1 max 2 less pauls at a time.
I personally love my less paul but i also love my strat
Oh and bright tone is easily warmable with FX while warm tone is a pain to brighten with FX.
On a side note, if you're digging LP guitars, go for an Epiphone and not a Gibson. It's 2022, Epiphone guitars are absolutely great out of the box (after setup ofc) and can EASILY reach a Gibson Custom Shop sound if you swap the electronics / pickups and it'll still be way cheaper than the Gibson. I've seen up to $3000 Gibsons having bad paint jobs and cutting frets requiring a luthier to fix while all the 2015-2020 Epiphones I've played were perfect and sounded really good stock.
This is an Epiphone Les Paul Slash Signature Guitar with Vermillion Burst. It sounds awesome and plays really nice. What I noticed at once is that I am much more comfortable with the Paula than with a strat. I think the shorter neck is in my favor. I also find it easier to scale on it, in comparison to my strat, idk why eactly though.
Anyway, after the first 2 hours of play I am happy with it.
