Rocksmith 2014 and DLC or Rocksmith+
So I have had Rocksmith & Rocksmith 2014 on various platforms and have not messed with them in a while (consoles stored away). I have been thinking about grabbing Rocksmith 2014 here on Steam.

I would most likely buy Rocksmith 2014, Rocksmith, the Importer, and to be very honest (with myself) about $200 of content. I am hoping to catch a sale soon. Now I hear tell of this Rocksmith+ coming out.

So my question is if Rocksmith+ with make The first 2 versions and the DLC obsolete. If it is all going to be on +, I should just hold out for that. If all or the majority of the content on Rocksmith+ is new content, great. If it reuses a lot of the prior content, then I am still in, but will limit what I re-buy.

Thanks!

What advice do you expect? It's all up to you. Both RS and RS+ can't be the only tool if your goal learning the guitar. Also, fixed price and subscription are very different pricing models. No one can tell which one suits you better. RS+ Beta didn't have any killer features, with a lot of them removed compared to RS2014. But if enough people support it, Ubi might evolve it far beyond RS2014. If not, they will likely wrap it up, and you end up with nothing. The same if some OS updates will be incompatible with RS2014.

Ok, thanks. I realize my question was a bit convoluted. Basically did not want to buy DLC today that is gonna be on + when it goes live. Gonna just grab 2014 and wait to see whats on +. Thanks again!

Get them both and plus. RS Plus will be better overall in the long run since it will constantly have new songs not in the other games. You will have more genres also. I own RS 2014 remastered and RS 1 on multiple machines and got into the beta for Plus.

Yeah, grabbed RS14 (third time) and plan to get the original and the transfer thing when it goes on sale or when I want it bad enough (whichever comes first). Will hold off on DLC till I get on + and see their track lists. Thanks for the reply :)

From the survey questions of Rocksmith+ it sounds as if it will be a monthly sub. Not sure of the song catalog. It does appear like it will have a much more varied genre playlist based on the beta. I will stick with 2014 and customs forge for songs. They aren't perfect and it's a lot of miss for me, but some of the customs are perfect.
I did the beta and am sticking with 2014. The monthly sub and lack of new good guitar based content is a deal breaker for me. I personally would rather take the $15 a month and just buy new DLC to keep instead of learn songs on Rocksmith+ and then lose them because they aren't able to keep their licensing.

Agreed, I own ALL of the DLC for 2014 at this point. they cant take the PSARC out of my dlc folder no matter what happens to the license. New players might be better off going with + until they decide they want to invest in 2014 but the lack of offline play and if i miss a payment i flat out cant play it pretty much guarantees i wont be using + for more than a month or two during its entire life span which if Guitar Hero live was any indicator, wont be long.
