What cable can I buy?
I've seen that to this day people complain about the original cable. So what other cable could I buy?

Hi there!

I suggest getting the Rocksmith RealTone cable as there's no other way to play the game without getting frustrated or without getting any errors. What I'm saying is that you could probably use any other method (I think there are ways to bypass the "need" of the game to use the original cable) but they won't probably make you enjoy the game other than getting angry or frustrated as it doesn't work as well as the Ubisoft one.

Hope this helps.
That the cable doesn't work for some people doesn't mean it's bad(the majority works just fine, but you don't hear them saying that ;)
99% of it not working is because of things outside the program. Like other hardware/software, updates of some kind.
Keep in mind this is older software and newer systems coming out all the time, sometimes those create problems. And you need to troubleshoot then.
However, like said above, with any other way, that's a guaranteed thing to do

Thanks, guys. Since it's like that, Imma think about it. The only way of playing this game then is importing a cable from eBay and that would take some time since my country has a shty customs.

RTC is not the only and def not the best option, but this's an official forum, and we like to shift the responsibility for your frustration to Ubi. So yeah, get RTC or learn how to google :winter2019coolyul:

Indeed, but to find one that's really working could be a task on its own.
I have both the cable and an alternative audio interface setup. That last worked in the beginning (years ago) good, but then something changed and it needed a whole lot of testing to get it working properly again. But i also experienced every system being different, someone i tried to help with having a interface from the same brand, it didn't work..... so there's no general solution without having done testing.

Also i am beta testing the new version, and i know the cable will work on that too.... So it's not wasted money.

But I didn't have much success in the test yet, which could be a result of interference from my different setups aswell....

That was a joke, btw. But those links are everywhere, including this forum, probably on the first page.

If you want to try to connect the guitar JACK to the line-in/mic of the internal sound card (not recommended, works really bad):
https://github.com/Mywk/NoCableLauncher

Direct Connect Mode for non-ASIO USB interfaces (official solution, but not enabled for some reason):
https://github.com/Lovrom8/RSMods

For ASIO audio interfaces (perfect solution in every aspect):

So this is not recommended and it doesn't work well? :(

In short, you need some USB audio interface suitable for recording guitar (something with Hi-Z input). If there's no ASIO driver, it has to support 48kHz, 16bit (DVD quality), then you go with RSMods. It works great and makes no difference with official RTC. If it supports ASIO, you go with RS-ASIO with all its benefits. Not recommended, only a simple wire for Guitar to the built-in sound card because It doesn't have instrument (Hi-Z) input, but you still can give it a try if you want it badly enough.

That's like greek to me, but thanks. Imma search that on youtube and look for tutorials. Already found one after searching "RS-ASIO" :)

And that's why to say, get the cable if you don't want a lot of hassle, you need to be a bit tech savvy, to go around it..
It's doable, but still.....;)

Yeah. It's just, like I said, I'd have to order on eBay and wait a long time 'till it reaches my hands. But it's ok. The game was launched in 2014. I guess I could wait a few months hehe

Anyway, does this Rocksmith cable work for a long time? It would be a shame to go through all this to have it breaking on me after only a couple of months.
Yes, i have mine for at least 6 years already. And i know people that have them since beginning. But like wise, there are also people that say it's broken quickly, somehow.... Maybe they step on it or something.
There's a small detachable part, that might be getting loose.
But i never had issues. I traveled with it even.
There's a topic where someone gave an idea to put an extension cable in between to make even more sure that the cable can be put aside, and thus having less wear and tear.
I can't link at the moment, since I'm on mobile. But I'll look it up

Oh, nice. Thinking about it now, they should've done this since the start. Just a small device instead of a whole cable :P
