Behringer Guitar 2 usb?
Is this cable useable? I've gone through 2 realtone cables now, because the cable fails at the breakaway/adapter.

My PC's front USB ports are within arms reach when I play so the only stress on the cable should be from it's own weight. I think I might zip-tie the cable to my desk's leg this time so the only stress on it is minimal at best.

not officially.

both my cables lasted years, even though somewhat rough usage on my part. You need to make sure you don't put stress on the breakaway. Make sure it has slack. use an instrument extension as suggested so you can drape the breakaway somewhere safe.

Hey Squiddlez I also have a Beringer Iaxe but have never gotten the usb out to work with Rocksmith but it works well with the realtone cable. You can try to put a pedal or a cable joiner inline and anchor the real tone cable to the computer so there is no stress on it.

You could do what Jimi is saying, don't have it work, constantly complain that you the game isn't recognizing what you are playing, and void any support.... Always has been and is a bad suggestion.

Trying to figure out how to limit stress is the best option. Make sure that you are not accidently pulling on the cable... Adding a 1/4 inch female to female extension adapter could help. Will allow you to plug in a regular guitar cable onto the Real Tone cable. That way you can roll up the Real Tone cable by the PC, taking away almost all weight off of the breakaway.

Also, careful when you roll it up. It shouldn't be a tight roll, but loose. They actually did an show on Twitch TV on how to take care of the Real Tone cable.

Cheapskates, just buy the "developer's" Real Tone Cable. Heck buy four of them as you'll be supporting RockSmith 2014 Re-Mastered Revisited.

Squiddlez, it seems like your original question has been answered. Why don't you indicate as such on the thread and let it die. This discussion is not appropriate for this forum. You should be able to find the information on your specific problem in other locations.

I own the game legit bought through steam. Why will UBI not implement a patch themselfs? I have the real tone cable and find the Behringer functions exactly the same. It's like the COD franchise saying you need to buy this controller. Fair enough if they can't offer exact support for every usb guitar input device becuase they develope around the realtone but I think it sucks and should implement this, they implemented mikemode, does USB mike mode not work?

Well, I only have a few guesses on this based off my experiance in IT engineering and software development. Here are the problems as I see it:

1. Any device they enable will have to be able to work on all platforms that they support... Granted, they may be able to open it up to only computers, but then trying to work with the drivers and sofware on both MAC and PC? A lot of complications between the two OS's and the driver/software differences on each OS. And when you consider the problems that Updates to those OS's have caused?

2. When you enable one device, then you have the headache of all of the people with similar devices wanting theirs to work. You can limit this by trying to work with only the top selling devices, but still the issue will be there.

3. Support... This is a big one. Not only having to support the software as it is, but adding in the variables of a ton of unknown interfaces. Some that would add extra processing or latency because of the extra features...

4. Testing.... Every device that is listed as supported would have to be tested in thier labs on new releases. Double the devices supported, double the amount of testing. Add 30 new supported devices.... And it is almost impossible for them to have every single existing and new and improved device...

5. They currently have a reletivly cheap cable that works really well on all supported devices...

As far as any of us know, they may be looking into the possibility. If I was running the project, I would, but we don't know what issues are stopping them. What we can be certain of is that they make way more money off of the DLC then they do off of the cable... So if it was easy, I am sure they would do it. The fact that they have enabled Microphone mode is a good indicator that there is a team researching other connection possibilities.

For now, the best option is to use the supported cable... And hope that one day they can figure out how to implement those other interfaces.

Good thing nobody asked you.

If you didn't know... It is called a forum... Where everyone can jump in and give their opinion... Even you, no matter how misguided, jumped in without being asked.. I posted this without being asked. The next post will be posted without being asked.... It is how this stuff works. Didn't you know?

I'm not the one telling people not to post certain things!

"funny, most people complain it's too expensive. I have no idea what their manufacturing costs actually are, but it's likely to not be too terribly expensive. The manufacturer (Hercules) wants to make it's money though."

Which is the point of this thread and why people are looking for alternatives. The physical copy of Rocksmith is $60, but the Steam version sells for $40. So why is the cable $40 as well? I could understand if it was $25, due to the packaging, but $40 makes no sense.

Not only that, but it's sealed in such a way that any warranty work means that it's cheaper for them to replace the whole cable. So it's likely that the cables are relatively cheap to produce.
caldaar Mar 21, 2018 @ 4:47pm
The cable is $29.99. It has been that price from the first release. If someone is selling it for more, that store is jacking up the price. You can find it cheaper with RS1 on sale..

Those certain things are Forum rules that you are not allowed to talk about Hacks and Cracks. And they are enforced by moderators (UBI). We tell you so that the discussion does not get deleted or locked by UBI which stops us from helping the OP...

Plus, I would rather UBIVertigo to spend their time helping where we can't, instead of constantly fighting people unable to follow the forum rules.
