I like your ideas, but I feel they are very broad and would require a lot of effort to incorporate - Ubisoft has already given up on RS, they gave up 6 months after launch. A trickle of DLC made by 1 guy and a ''remaster'' which is basically just a bugfix patch don't count.
I haven't been there in a while, but there's a website for sharing RS ''partitions'' - maybe you'd find something to help you expand your playstyle (not songs) there ?
My point is that they will not improve the game further by adding functionality (modes like Warmup, Scaling, Improv). They won't work on the code either - 2014 saw what, 2 patches in 4 years ? They won't keep polishing either (yeah, Riff Repeater got slightly less clunky with Remaster, that was a once in a lifetime deal, and really, it knocked me off my chair).
I get your point though - Ubisoft still has employees on the game what, 4 years after launch ? That is extreme - by Ubisoft standards, at least.
My kid brother LOVED it though, he played it for 2 years (hundreds of hours) then got into his school's band. Would you take him more seriously if he laughed at the idea of Ubisoft adding content (more than a few tabs a week) and patching the game ?
They won't implement new features and I'd be extremely surprised to see another patch - that means having given up. Like I said, the trickle of DLC that's very easy and fast to make is only there to milk the game. No ? I'm wrong ? Please link Ubisoft employees or schedules saying that features and patches are on the way.
What features do I mean ? Well did you read the original post ? Here you go: Coil-Tapping, Modifying Your guitar, How to use a Wammy Bar, Travis Picking, Ways to Warmup, Scales, or even how to improvise. Those are just a few examples - there are many more techniques and styles that could be added to the minigames répertoire. And like you said, forget about the anything coming to the PC version, because they're still patching up the iOS one.
Those videos are really cool, they should be integrated in the game ! Because on Twitch they don't really reach (they only have a few hundred views each).
I guess we have different point of views of what ''giving up'' means. My idea of supporting a title is regular (at least once a month) bug fixing, polishing features (every 2 months - Riff Repeater comes to mind, it's still clunky AF), and of course adding content (DLC).
You seem to be content with them making shorts and adding a few tabs a week. That's entirely fine.
Looking at your profile, I assume that you are not a gamer. We have different views on things, that's all. Thank you for explaining what giving up means to you - we can put our differences aside.
I'm sure OP has made up his mind about his question - would be interesting to hear his opinion after reading all of this.
Honestly, I reinstalled RS maybe 2 weeks ago but haven't gotten around to actually playing (only launched and tuned up to make sure it worked). Too busy with the violin ! Maybe that's why my guitar playing has plateaued haha. So I don't really remember what the game offers in terms of technique. But off the top of my head ? Exercises for various styles of picking, sliding, arpeggios, legato. Pinched harmonics, tapping, string skipping, tapping.
