My Acoustic Guitar Won't Get Past Tuning
I was looking forward to playing this game, but I have one issue. My Acoustic won't get past tuning. Either the tuning knob is at +999 or -999.

I am using the guitar in Mic Mode in a quiet room.
The Mic i am using is a Blue Snowball Ice.

I've used it with probably 10 different instruments including two different acoustics both plugged in and via a mic. It's not "bugged" but you do need to get it set up optimally with your particular hardware.
Well for some reason I could never calibrate my guitar. Everytime it asked to strum really hard it just wouldn't register even though it registered all notes before that. Sadly I had to refund and go back to my ps3 version. LOL Ubisoft even reached out to me and told me to email them but they never responded. :steamsad:

Did you put in a support ticket with them?

So you tuned it and it worked for that but calibration didn't show any level?
Yep I made a ticket here and I think even through Uplay. A ubisoft Steam moderator even gave me his email address so I could give him all the specifics. Nobody ever responded after that. It was all PR show. Had to refund as it was my only choice.

Yes for some reason it wouldn't finish calibrating. I googled and this was a major issue that many people faced. I did all the fixes I could find but the only thing Ubisoft told me was my cable and or guitar was bugged. Yet they both still work on PS3. Oh well.

Here is a recent thread on it.

So you got a guitar, tried it on pc, couldn’t get it to calibrate, then tried it on ps3 with the same guitar and cable and that works? What made you decide to try the ps3 version after your experience with the pc version?

Even weirder you have sound enough to tune but not to calibrate? Beyond bizarre.

And you also tried on two PCs?

Can’t tell from the other threads did you try a usb 2 port? Did you go through the RS setup guide? If the guitar and cable work on ps3 but you can’t make them work on two different PCs my guess is one of those two things. Cable can be flaky on usb 3 or a port with low power and if you don’t have the sound settings right it’s not going to work. Seems you’ve eliminated everything else.
No, I had the ps3 version for a year or so before I tried to buy the Steam version. Yep man it was weird because you have to tune before you calibrate. So it tuned fine but at the very end of tuning it asks you to strum all the notes. During this strumming sections no notes would register. Many many threads on this exact same issue.

Yes I tried usb2 etc. Pretty much tried everything I could find. Literally this is the only game I have never been able to troubleshoot.

I never tried on two PC's because I only have the one. Maybe I try again idk.

Chonchy, I think I’m mixing several peoples posts up. The only time I can think you strum all the notes is during calibration. You play the notes one at a time when you tune. So I’m slightly confused but it’s very odd that it hears some of the time but not all of the time. The easiest way to see the problem would be if you video it.

never seen that callibration before.. can you callibrate one at atime or does it not work at the final check just before you get into the song?

Try tuning with an app then press skip tuning to get past it

At least you can see a tuner in the game, if I turn my tuning peg and go pretty extreme in either direction (flat or sharp) I get an onscreen message to tighten or loosen the string, but I have no meter at all, no "highlighted" strings, and no option to skip tuning.

I can cancel tuning, but that just takes me back 1 screen to calibration ...

I'm goin' insane !!

Have you tried the tips here?

I had exact same problem, don't know where I saw it. Go to your root RockSmith folder and open Rocksmith.ini in notepad. Edit these lines:

MaxOutputBufferSize=0 (change to 32)
Win32UltraLowLatencyMode=1 (change to 0)

check this link if you still have problems

maybe an issue with the strings? when i first got the game and the real tone cable i plugged my bass in and tried to tune it and it would never tune properly i ended up overtighten and popped my E string, which i was fine with since they were really old strings. so i got new strings and it tunes fine now. im having an issue with the game detecting my E string when tuned to anything other than standard E.

The exact same thing happened to me when I bought this program several years ago. I was also using a blue snowball. The answer is ...... it does not work and Ubisoft will not give you a refund. They simply refuse to admit it does not work in this set up. I also went ahead and bought the real tone cable and used my acoustics internal pick up and still could not get past calibration. I think its just luck of the draw if you are using it with an acoustic. I have just reinstalled Rocksmith again as I just got a 2nd hand Squire (elec guitar). It works OK with this guitar.
