What is the Rocksmith 2014 Disc Import Tool?
I haven't been able to find the store page for this product and I was wondering what it was.

There's an import tool for people that owned Rocksmith (version 1) in which they could import them into 2014 version. I don';t think its needed any more.

The Disc Import Tool relicenses the songs in the original Rocksmith so that the entire list can be imported to RS2014. (Everything except the Clapton songs and I think one other.)

You'll need the original Rocksmith on your Steam account, and the Import Tool is available on the Rocksmith 2014 store page.

Note that this does not apply to original Rocksmith DLC, which can be bought for RS2014 even if you don't own OG Rocksmith or the Import Tool.

If you own just Rocksmith 2014 Remastered then you should be fine. Most, if not all, PC versions are still playable from the original version.

There are 5 songs from the original Rocksmith which won't be transfered to your 2014 version even with the import tool :

Chris Lee - Boss
Cream - Sunshine of Your Love
Eric Clapton - Run Back to Your Side
Seth Chapla - Jules
Seth Chapla - The Star Spangled Banner

That's a shame because those are really fun songs to play, but it seems the (re)licensing for these ones was too complicated.

On the issue of finding the product on the store page, when I bought it, I remember it was a real PITA to find through the store, might have changed now but if it hasn't google the product and then click on the steam link in the search results to buy it through the steam web page.

You can't buy the original Rocksmith on steam so probably just don't worry about the import tool

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
