Tunings
I visited a friend this weekend who is a much more experienced guitar player than me. He showed me a tuning - he calls it the Justin Hayward tuning. The tuning sounds beautiful and haunting when played finger style using open chords grips. Basically he tunes the high E string down to D. Tunes the A string down to G and tunes the low E down to D. The B, G, & D strings remain on E standard tuning. I was blown away by the sound! I know this isn't exactly Rocksmith-the-game related but if yall have some other tunings to explore, I'm all ears!

The mentioned tuning is nothing more, but Open G. There are a few songs with this tuning in the game.

I love the music theory behind the guitar as much as I love the music the guitar produces when held by a musician. The idea that a guitar (stringed instruments in general) can have the strings tuned to a different root note and thus changing the how it sounds is fascinating.

Add in the other tools and the sounds are so varied.

It's neat stuff :)

After a period of time, standard tuning gets boring to my ears and so I don't practice with as much concentration, enthusiasm or energy as I should. I should add I try to practice or improve some aspect of my playing every day. I rely on a capo to change the key but when I add-in a different tuning (and the capo) then apply a finger or strumming pattern I've learned, I say to myself, "Wow where was that hiding all this time!" Playing becomes fresh and interesting again. I get lost exploring sounds and rhythms.
