S.O.S. no sounds at all
just got this gifted to me for christmas. its 2019 and it still doesn't work right.

running on windows 10, with a realtone cable (OG cable from the original rocksmith for xbox360). pc finds the cable and in the audio control panel the cable shows its registering sound input. the game will not find the cable to save its life, and there is absolutely no game audio coming out of my speakers (did multiple sanity checks with youtube, spotify, and loading other games, everything works fine from an audio standpoint.)

scoured google, through all the old archived threads and posts, nothing has worked. editing the .ini files did nothing, and i just did a complete fresh install of windows less than 24 hours ago.

anybody have any idea what is going on? funny part is i had a pirated version that worked flawlessly about a year ago, but somehow the legit version wont work for s**t

try in compatibility mode for windows 7, unplug other audio input devices, double check your sound settings and volume mixer. I use windows 10 with no issue but do come across audio a confused system audio sometimes, discord doesnt like rocksmith cable plugged in being one.

In addition to the above check Win10 privacy settings and allow microphone access for Rocksmith.

Don't forget to disable all other mircophones in sound settings.

did all of that. disabled everything in playback/record settings that wasnt my pc speakers and the cable. tried running it in win7 compatability mode with admin rights (ended up crashing). its just heavily frustrating because ive been looking forward to playing this game again since i got rid of my 360 a few years ago

if you go to Control Panel -> Hardware And Sound -> Sound -> Playback right click your Headphones/Speakers select properties. Then Select the 'Advanced' tab which shows 'Default Format'. Open the drop down menu select 48000hz, then select apply. EDIT - Forgot to mention if the RealTone cable isn't being recognised either do the same thing you did for your Headphones/Speaker but with the RealTone cable. So this time it's Control Panel -> Hardware And Sound -> Sound -> RECORDING right click Rocksmith Cable, select properties. Then Select the 'Advanced' tab which shows 'Default Format'. Open the drop down menu select 48000hz, then select apply. Load your game back up and see if it works.

pc was set to that by default, never touched it, didn't make a difference

Hang on, no sound at all, from either the game background music and your guitar?
Does your game behave like it's acknowledging your guitar input? E.g. Calibration then tuning?
Are you using a sound card? If so try the default motherboard sound output
Check for conflicting music programs running in the background
Have you tried;
going into Rocksmith.ini in my rocksmith folder and just changing the "ForceWDM=0" to "ForceWDM=1"
EnableMicrophone=0
ExclusiveMode=0
LatencyBuffer=1
ForceDefaultPlaybackDevice=1
ForceWDM=0
ForceDirectXSink=0
Win32UltraLowLatencyMode=0

Is Playback Devices" - Double click your speakers,Click advanced tab
Make sure it is set to "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)"

If it's just the cable, have you tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling? I'm also assuming the guitar volume is turned all the way up?

independently test the cable!
Is the cable showing up in device manager?

Is the cable showing up in other audio programs? Can you record from it?

Install Audacity[www.audacityteam.org] and record your guitar from the cable and then play it back.

Use something from Razor? That may give conflicts . Best to try unplugging and/or disabling the Razor software.
Using a Xeon processor? I believe someone in a earlier post had something with that.

raging delerium - thats right, no sound at all from game background music or guitar/bass (i tried both my instruments). game behaves like the guitar cable is not plugged in at all, and changing that setting in the .ini file crashes the game. using the on-board sound card

xunie - cable shows up in device manager. ive uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated to the windows default driver for the cable and nothing in the game. but, when i look at it from the recording devices screen in windows its volume is set at 100%, the sound bar on the right flashes when i hit the strings, and the cable works fine with recording to sound forge audio studio, so the cable physically works and is recognized by the pc but not the game.

cataleya22 - I do actually have a Razer tartarus v2, and have no idea why that would cause any sort of issue (this problem made me so mad that i actually deleted the game from my pc in rage). ill reinstall the game and load it up with my gamepad unplugged and let you know how it goes. and im using a ryzen 7 3700x, so it definitely should not be the processor

update: reinstalled the game, and unplugged my razer tatarus v2, no change at all. game still has no sound or recognition of the cable. Opened the .ini file and found that the line "ForceDefaultPlaybackDevice" had no value next to it (blank space, no 0 or 1), typed in a 1, saved, and reloaded game, also no difference.

steam is also constantly saying that there are files missing when i validate game files from preferences, which makes no sense considering the game was just installed from scratch. im at a loss at this point and honestly just saying the reason is because ubisoft is horrible at game optimization and releasing bug-free software (not the first ubisoft title ive has issues with)

remember folks, 2 years ago i had a pirated copy of the game that a co-worker gave me, and never experienced any issues on a win10 system, with a razer keyboard and razer mouse connected to my system, so this whole issue makes absolutely no sense to me.

update update - re-validated (found one file that needed replaced, validated again after the file was reinstalled and it passed validation), loaded game and still had no sound, validated again after closing the game and validation found another file that needed replaced.

im at a loss, as soon as i load the game it corrupts itself

Sounds like like you might want to check your antivirus history, I suspect you may need to create an exception rule for the specific file
I'd also uninstall, delete the steam save
?:\Program Files\Steam\userdata\10136896\221680
and then reinstall
(congrats by the way in the last 5 years this is first time of heard of this particular problem on RS, you are the special one in million).
It is possible that the Razor hardware also has some software left behind, that still running.
You might check this post about using Windows Event viewer for perhaps pinpointing a bit more

Also just another post was made from someone solving it because of problems with USB Ports

I have an ASUS FX502V gaming laptop running Win 10 Pro, and I bought and installed RS2014 this past week. I get a sound initialisation error (no audio device enabled and get no sound) when I start the game, but only when the laptop is connected to a bluetooth audio-out device like my JBL wireless earphones or an LG soundbar. No, there are no issues with my earphones or the soundbar connection because any other sounds play like normally. Please help?
