2 Note Chord Not Registering
So... I do know how to play guitar, actually, and I have researched my question, but I'm not convinced it's a problem with holding the strings down too hard, etc.

On Hey Ya! very early on there's a chord on the open low E string (red) and the 2nd fret of the A string (yellow). It always says miss... Even though I play it on time. I can use the accelerator and confirm it... But could there be some other issue?

On Suspicious Minds, there's a chord higher up, on the d string (blue) and the g (orange), which I play exactly the same and it registers every time.

Other factors: I use active pickups. I notice that the game's tuner doesn't really put my guitar in tune in comparison to another tuner I have (so I just assume it's better to let the game think it's right).

I've read that sometimes bass player have to adjust certain settings so their lower notes will be heard... But this isn't a bass.

Hopefully this doesn't end up being a broken record post, I just felt my problem was slightly unique. Thank you for the help ahead of time!

My suggestion is to calibrate again and try selecting a different pickup combination. Maybe the open E is so loud that the game can't hear the A string...

I don't have the song so I checked a playthrough in youtube. https://youtu.be/ylZdcnTrCFo
At full difficulty the E chord doesn't miss at least on that video so maybe there's a weird bug just in that particular song at the lower difficulty. Maybe it wants to hear the whole chord even if it tells to only play the red and yellow. Try playing the whole E chord and see what happens...

So I am going to weigh in here just a bit. Been playing RS for a long time on Xbox and Mac. There are some songs that the chord just won't register no matter how perfect you play the chord. I just gave up trying on some songs.

Also, tune your guitar to the game... The game may want a few cent's off a perfect A or E. Think about playing with a band and one of the players tune in 460 not 440. You turn to 460 and get on with the program. RS always seems to turn low to my other tuners. However tune to what RS wants not what you think is perfect.

I found that little bit of wisdom saved me hours in the past troublshooting tuning.

Double check to see if your pickups use a 9V battery, you may need to unscrew a compartment somewhere on your guitar, replace it unless you have recently. I had this issue with my EMG's with a 6yr old battery, I could hear the guitart through the game perfectly, but the game couldn't.. It was weird.

Intonation can cause what you're describing, well, bad intonation anyway. Look up videos on YouTube for setting intonation on your style of guitar and bridge.

Worn frets or too much / too little neck relief may cause this too. Is your action too high or too low? Is there any buzz on the strings that might be causing issues for the pickups? If your guitar has a truss rod, it may need to be adjusted (again, YouTube). Buzz isn't usually passed through the pickups, but with this game who knows.

This is also good advice, there have been times when I've tuned my guitar with my personal tuner to standard E and the game will show that it's slightly off. Sometimes it doesn't cause problems, sometimes it does.

All that said, my bet is a dead battery. Let us know what you find out, good luck!
