Rocksmith Real Tone Cable Not Working!
Okay, so heres the outline: The game was working fine, cable and all, until my old HDD messed up and broke (something wonky in the windows). So I bought an SSD and new windows and put my new windows on there and and 2TB HDD and put most games on it. Rocksmith is on the HDD. However, ever since then, my real tone cable says it isnt connected when I get into the game. If I go into my device manager, it says this for the cable:

"This device cannot start. (Code 10) The I/O request was canceled."

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling it the cable driver, the game itself, verifying game files, trying different USB ports- my graphics driver is up to date... I've searched this issue online and tried most everything, but nothing seems to work. If anyone has an idea to help, it'd be greatly appreicated. Here are my PC specs in case they're needed:

GTX 970
i7 6700
8GB DDR4 RAM
MSi Z270 SLI Motherboard
Windows 10

Oh I know what the problem is you have 8 gigs of ram, you need a 256 meg stick of DDR4....rare, I know. You'll have to go through the Chinese black market to get it. And also you need to replace the thermal paste of your CPU but you have to do it at the same time as when you install the ram so it's a two man job.

Found this on the Ubisoft forum: give it a shot.

"Looks like I was able to fix this after some more troubleshooting, for some reason in Windows 10 settings under "Microphone privacy settings" that "Allow apps to access your microphone" had been switched to off. Simply toggled this to on, fired up Rocksmith 2014 and was good to go"

Well I tried and didnt seem to work... I checked the device manager and the message changed somewhat. "This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful."

Windows 10 is fking garbage when it comes to rocksmiths tone cable. I have no problem running rocksmith tone cable on any other windows but fk me this tone cable is garbag on windows 10. Rocksmith get off your fking asses and re write a fking proper driver for fking windows 10 you fking lazy fks! I am so fking sick not being able to run this out of date tone cable on my new system!!!! Build a fking tone cable driver that understands USB 3.0 you fkers~!

Rocksmiths tone cables are so out of date this is way everyone is having issues with windows ten..Rocksmih tone cables are dated back to October 2011, Windows Ten released in October 2014! Why the fk are there no new drivers or tone cables compatible with USB 3.0 using windows 10? Make new fking cables or drivers you stupid fks over at rocksmith!!
Fk the new free stupid ISO version of rocksmith if you can't fix window ten issues!

Please check your break-away section on your real tone cable. Make sure it hasn't separated even slightly. From what I've read that can result in this particular code 10 too. In the meantime I'll scrounge around for another solution. Are you using USB 2 port(s)?

Rocksmith tone cables will not work understand USB 3.0 only USB 2.0 .... I had to get a USB 2.0 four port hub and plug it into one of my USB ports on the back of my desktop computer which runs USB 3.0 ports. For a while this worked I was able to trick the the tone cable but now nothing works. I don't know if the new rocksmith 2014 remastered update fk my set up but I am starting to get pis_sed off here. My tone cable works perfectly on my laptop computer which has USB 2.0 port and is on windows 8.

Ever since the update my desktop setup which is USB 3.0 / USB 2.0 hub and windows 10 is now coming up with error code 10 in the rocksmith tone cables property.

Here is the defention to error code ten : The Code 10 error is one of several Device Manager error codes. It's generated when Device Manager can't start the hardware device, a situation usually caused by outdated or corrupted drivers. A device may also receive a Code 10 error if a driver generates an error that Device Manager doesn't understand.

Knowing that these tone cables were build before windows ten and usb 3.0 makes me pis-sed off that there is no new USB 3.0 tone cables or an updated tone driver!!!

If you type mmc devmgmt.msc in the run command line you will get the device manager to pop up and if every thing is working nothing will be open. If you have an issue you will see what ever it is open with an exclamation mark which is my Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter. Go into it's properties by right clicking on it and you will see

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

If you unplug the tone cable from the usb port and plug it back it the tone cable with reboot back up and for about 30 seconds it will work fine then it breaks and you get error code 10. I deleted and re installed the tone driver over and over and over and nothing works any more. Thanks for fking up the tone cable with this past updated!

My PC has all 3.0 USB ports, but I do have a external USB dock which are all 2.0 - which dont work either... So, I'm guessing there isnt really a fix to this, as it really requires a new cable that actually works with the new stuff, which Ubisoft wont do?

By-the-way what bios version are you using? There was a bios update released on July 17, 2018 that improved USB compatibiltiy. More specifically: https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z270-SLI#down-bios. If you read further down, you'll notice an earlier bios update released on July 17, 2017 that improved USB 2 device compatiblilty. Now my standard disclaimer: contact MSI support and confirm this bios update is compatible to your hardware and setup before proceeding if you are in any way uncertain. You can brick your computer!

Have you upgraded/reinstalled the chipset software? That will have updated USB system software. You can usually get it from intel.com

don't use the USB 3.1 ports, or use a powered USB 2.0 hube if you have no choice, but a USB 2.0 port is preferred.
