Microphone Imput?
I saw on Ubisoft website that this versione of Rocksmith should have the possibility to play also without the Real Tone Cable. Now I am wondering how is it to play with a normal guitar unplugged; am I able to use any king of microphone or do I need a special one as for thre cable?
This question is asked because in my country the cables for this games are not sold apart so this is the only way I could play this game.

I also read that there is another mode in which you only practise without an imput and this also could really help me to learn a lot of new song, also if I can not directly play them.

Thank you for your attenction. :steamhappy:

Hi Lizardmagic--you heard correctly! Microphone mode uses a USB microphone (preferably not a headset mic), and Disconnected mode will allow you to play through the songs without requiring an input. A couple of notes, though:

1. Microphone mode was designed with an acoustic guitar in mind. While notes will be detected, there won't be any playback of your guitar from your computer, so no authentic tones. It's possible to use a microphone with a guitar amp (others here may have suggestions on setup for that), but you may suffer some detection issues--especially if you're running effects.
2. Using Disconnected mode will not track your progress, and you would need to manually set the difficulty of the songs.

Often times for a practice session, I play unplugged with an acoustic or I'll plug into a yamaha thr practice amp. Its fine imo. You can still use riff repeater and slow down the song to practice the tricky bits. For me, playing unplugged eliminates the stress of having to play perfect or chase some score. I tend to play more relaxed and I'm more focused on practicing what I set out to practice. Usually I'm working on my timing and strumming patterns. But to get the full benefit of what the software has to offer, you really need a real tone cable. You've already made an investment to learn guitar, don't skimp-out now by not buying a thirty dollar real tone cable. I haven't used the mic input and probably won't.

I have to say you are right about the investment but you have to take in mind that in my country, or at least where I live, there are no cables and phisical version of the game; so it's the only way to play for me.

@Lizardmagic. The real tone cable looks available for order off amazon.it . If you can obtain an Xbox 360, xbox one, playstation 3 or 4 real tone cable, it will work on your pc or laptop. Contact some game stores where they sell used games. You may run across a cable that way too. Good Luck.
