Game Launches but only black screen displays
I have had Rocksmith 2014 since it came out and have over 1300 hours of play. The video for the game recently stopped working. When I launch the game, the screen goes black. I can hear the game intro music but the screen stays black. I can {Alt}{Esc} back to the windows desktop and see the Rocksmith icon in the tray. I can click on the Rocksmith icon and the screen blacks out again. Task manager shows the game runing but no video is shown.

I have used the steam library to "Verify Integrity of Game Files".
There have been no hardware changes to the system
Other software and all other steam games work as expected.

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.3GHz
16384MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Check your display settings, if it is set to 60hz try setting it to 69..

If that doesn't work, try running Steam as Administrator. See if that helps. There might be a steam update that has to finish installing.

last suggestion is... Under the install folder of RS, there is a _CommonRedist folder. Try re-installing the VCRedist and DirectX. Those may have gotten corrupt.

My Rockmith dotn work. Every time I press play it says "prepare to laumch" but nothing happens. Hope somebody can help me.

deleted rocksmith and download it and downloaded it and now it works

None of the suggestions worked but thanks anyway. I was considering a complete uninstall and reinstall but I though I would try to get the app to reinitialize itself first so I renamed the rocksmith INI and restarted. The video issue was resolved but I had many other new issues with distorted sounds and flicking.

I compared the old INI to the new INI and noticed that there ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight were both zero in the one that worked and were set to invalid values for my resolution in the one for the blank screen. I reverted back to the original INI and set both screen values to sero and every thing is working now.
