Rocksmith® 2014 Edition - Remastered

MacOS 64bit
Any ideas on when an updated 64bit version of RockSmith is coming out for Mac? High Sierra warns about the impending lack of compatability with 32 bit apps, and with WWDC and 10.4 just around the corner, I'm worried RockSmith will stop working soon...
Plus it could use the performance enhancements of 64bit and metal etc.

Rocksmith 2014 Remastered is pretty much the only thing keeping me from updating to macOS Catalina when it releases later this year. We need 64 bit support, PLEASE!

I am a developer so I dual-booted macOS Catalina developer beta to update my apps and also tested that Rocksmith 2014 does not work at all (as expected).

I can't keep an older version of macOS around just to play Rocksmith! And I definitely will not install Windows. Please Ubisoft, update Rocksmith to 64 bits!

Come to the dark side, dual boot windows 7.

buy a proper PC.
Seriously though, Apple have never been reliable for gaming, pc's are cheap enough to build from scrap to run Rocksmith.

Indeed, I would love to see a 64 bit version. I hope it comes soon.

Same here, I hope an update comes soon. I don't care about Metal I just want to be able to keep playing.

I guess I don't have to worry - I'm running an 8-year old MacBook Pro that only upgrades to High Sierra. Still runs well, although I have put in an SSD. I dual boot to Windows 7 to run original RS for stuff that didn't port over.

Yeah, primarily "Sunshine of Your Love". I could go for more Cream songs, too.

Rocksmith's USB adapter is incredibly unpredictable and unreliable on PC hardware (hocksmit, anyone?), which is the only real reason I use it on my Mac. Until Catalina :/

12 months later, no update from Ubisoft :devilskiss:

I don't think there will be an update from UBI. If they are working on it, we won't hear until it is 100% done and 1 week from shipping.

I would like to hear from others if any VM solutions work fast enough with Windows or Mojave. I have an iMac with VirtualBox (free) but never tried to run WIndows in it. On low GUI settings, I wonder if RS will be playable? I prefer to not dual-boot the OS, but it might come to that...

Proton/Linux might be an option. I would prefer it over Windows.

Well, I've been playing games exclusively on Macs since 2013 and I've never had a problem with that. I even retired my desktop gaming PC from that era. Seriously. Work takes most of my time so it was better if I could game on the same computer as I do my work, and the Mac I got for work was more powerful than my gaming PC back then, so it was a very easy decision.

As a former Windows user (until 2012), I was surprised to find that all of the audio software on the Mac instantly recognized my guitar just by plugging the Rocksmith cable on the first try! I did not need to setup, install drivers, change settings or do anything else, and I had absolutely no latency issues. Latency issues are apparently very common on Windows, as I first found out when I was searching for information into buying the cable and whether to buy the Real Tone or other gear.

My point is: I might use bootcamp to play games, but I will never do that to play Rocksmith. When I'm playing I like to mess around with ideas and record sound snippets and my DAW is Mac-only. I can't just "reboot" in the middle of the inspiration moment, stop to type the password and resume.

I've played some games using Parallels Desktop. It has a "Game mode". Though the last time I did that was 2014, it worked great and smoothly (Dead Island series, maximum settings). Your mileage will vary depending on your hardware and games of choice. But Parallels is somewhat expensive and I justified the price because of work. I don't think it's worth it just for playing one game. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be GPU pass-through support in VirtualBox (with macOS host), but I don't think this will matter too much for Rocksmith.

I suppose Rocksmith would run just fine in virtualization, but I'm not sure about Windows audio drivers or latency, and if it was me I would definitely prefer Proton/Linux/Wine/Crossfire over Windows.

You can also run your bootcamp partition with Parallels Desktop (which is what I did when I had to work with C#, IIS and Xcode simultaneously). This way you don't waste too much space with Windows and this enables you to decide whether to virtualize or dual boot in case you want to do something else or take advantage of the full performance of your Mac on Windows. Perhaps VirtualBox has support for this, too?

Haha, I had Windows 7 on bootcamp until some time after Windows 10 was released, then migrated to the latest OS, but I only use it for gaming. Anything music-related I do exclusively on macOS (including Rocksmith). :)

Me too!

Ubisoft, please update it to 64bits! I would easily purchase a new "Rocksmith 2019" again for the same price as Rocksmith 2014 launched if it's released with macOS Catalina compatibility (64 bits). And obviously also keep compatibility with all DLC from previous versions.

+1, that could have happened with Mojave already. Now is the time to suprise everybody who heavily invested into songs, please.
