Metallica singed some exclusivity contract with activision in times of Guitar hero 3 i think. I dont know how long this lasts but i think there will be DLC as soon as this deal ends. EA and Porsche had a simliar deal.(need 4 Speed)

Sounds like they are still under contract with Activision. I hope the deal runs out soon. Rocksmith is the future and the only one true way forward.
