Horrible cracking noise coming from the game
I have a constant crackling noise coming from the game i know its not the cable because i have tested the cable outside the game and it sounds completely fine and it also makes the noise when no output is coming from the guitar?

Alright, then lets check the faq and make sure you're not using anything different or that isn't supported.

This is ps4, however, the issue is still relative:

Remember to disconnect any other devices from the usb ports, make sure every driver is updated, and that you've stopped all other applications running in the background. This is basically process of elimination to try to figure out where the issue is coming from.

I fixed the issue by changing these settings
MaxOutputBufferSize=1024
LatencyBuffer=1

Try resetting the Tone Designer with a different sound that you like and assign it to the Tone Stick, when you have that crappy old amp crackling sound switch to your favorite tone on the Tone on the Tone Stick.
Problem solved, it is the amp settings not your system, guitar or connections.

im not sure this is the case as it comes on in the middle of songs or random points and every sone has a custom tone setting. my fix worked for a day then the problem came back so im not sure what to do now

I have a similar problem with both Xbox One and Steam. A new cable did not resolve the issue. I have determined it is related to the electricity in my house. Disconnecting my laptop's powwer supply and running on battery power resolves the issue.

Edit: Sometimes another factor seemed to be interference from other electronics placed near the cable.
