Really? You don't get my point? Hmm, let me try some comparisons...
- Asking for support for some copy you got off the internet is like complaining about the taste of the free government cheese when you've never paid taxes.
- It's like going to your neighbor's house and complaining about his cable service because you're stealing his cable and don't like the choices.
- It's similar to complaining that a hooker gave you an STD when she gave you a freebie and you could clearly see that she had a neatly trimmed beard, a patch over one eye, and a wooden leg.
-It's similar to being a thirteen year old, (either literally or just by your IQ), and asking stupid support questions to get a game to work that you didn't even buy.
Alas, I'm not the only one here. I'm sure someone else will help you. Lest of Buck.
@OP: sorry, can't help you, I use Win7 still. And will continue to do so until support runs out.
1. Erase the game and all the support files for RS.
2. Make sure all drivers in Win 10 are current
3. Remove all usb devices except for the RS Cable. (Make sure it's in a usb 2.0 port)
4. Reload your copy from steam. (Make sure it's not the beta version)
5. Retry.
If that doesn't work check out Win 10 settings for the ini file.
That's about all I have. I run Macs. Error free!
1. Find "Rocksmith 2014" on Steam
2. Click on "Add to Cart"
3. Click on "Cart"
4. Click "Purchase for Myself"
5. Pay for the item.
6. Enjoy the game that is now working.
I got this game for my birthday in 2014 on DVD (original packaging, straight from the store) and activated it under Steam. It worked fine then.
Later, I installed Windows 10, and Rocksmith crashes on startup.
So, don't assume someone stole the game, because you don't have the same problem.
It still doesn't work so I'd be happy if someone found a solution that worked, and none of this high-and-mighty b******t.
That wasn't an assumption. If you know the issue and the profile, then the issue is clear. Take your own advice.
Jokehoops, if you and Ahol would like some help I can take a stab at it and we'll likely get some feedback from other members as well, which is always great. You tend to see the same names in different games and remember certain things said and done. Of course I'm not going to make an accusation solely based on the behavior of a game. We're all here to help each other and most of us are grown.
Some basic information we would need is 1. Are you meeting the general requirements. (For both Win10 as well as for your game. I'd assume you do for the game since you said that you only upgraded.) 2. Have you updated all of your drivers. This includes the motherboard, usb ports, audio and video. 3. When does the game crash and how does it crash? (You've said at startup but is it a crash back to the desktop with a hourglass for a moment, then nothing? Or is it a blue or black screen? Any error messages?
First things to usually do when you have these issues is to remove as many possibilities from the equasion as possible. So while we test to get your RS working, please remove all other peripherals from your USB ports.
Close out all other applications except RS and your Windows functions, (you shouldn't be able to close those anyway). Press cntrl + alt + del once and make sure there aren't any apps running in the background that you just didn't see running on the taskbar. Close your Anti-Virus as well.
If you've never tried running RS with everything stripped down like this before, then try it and let us know what happens. Is it a different problem or does it work, or whatever?
1. Reinstalled Steam.
2. Reinstalled game.
3. Reinstalled game on other hard drive.
4. Revalidated files.
5. Launched game as administrator.
6. Removed all USB devices except cable, keyboard and mouse.
7. Turned off all sound devices except cable and main sound card output.
8. Switched compability modes on/off on steam and game.
9. Reinstalled GPU drivers.
10. Reinstalled Soundcard drivers.
Main reasons of failure I see so far:
1. Some OS/driver issue with Windows 10.
2. Some HW issue with my PC.
3. Bad luck.
I installed original RS game I played few years ago on my old PC and it didn't run aswell.
The only game I had problems with launch so far was Dirt Rally. All other games from my Steam library (and any other sources) works great.
What I'm actually trying to do is get more information to help determine where the issue is coming from. This may be a laptop vs desktop issue which does exist with software sometimes or possibly something else. Ubi is very quiet on the subject about the win10 issue with some users running RS, but hopefully we can either get a workaround or narrow the issue down to tell dev.
Also, if you're having issues with it running on Win10 and you recently purchased it. If you don't want to continue trying to get it to run, you can always get a refund. Since some have the issues and many others done, without having more hardware information or more specifics of where the issue could be coming from, you might prefer this route until a later date.
