What audio playback device are you using to listen with?
What type of guitar?
Single coil guitars have trouble sometimes.
If you guitar has batteries make sure they are fresh.
Try removing any other USB devices.
Make sure no other background tasks/apps are running.
I currently use a 50 foot guitar cable like this without any issues.
The cable I do think shows as a mic, but should be labeled Rocksmith Guitar Aadapter or such also.
I never adjust the levels in the recording devices for the cable, but I do check it is set to 16 bit, 48 khz.
I agree with Alun1, that doing calibrations help with this too. Since the updates I find I may have to recalibrate at any time during game play. The calibration just does not seem to "stick" as well as it used to.
